Three weeks had gone by and Elaine was still going out with Dion. She was forced to lie to her parents more and more to cover up the fact that she was seeing Dion alone. She told herself that her mother was old fashioned and didn't understand.

By this time Elaine and Dawn were barely speaking to each other. Each thought that the other was one hundred percent wrong. Dawn thought that Elaine was making the biggest mistake of her life while Elaine thought that Dawn was not being supportive.

"After all, she is supposed to be my best friend" Elaine thought to herself.

It was a Friday during second period when Dawn overheard a disturbing conversation that she knew she had to share with Elaine.

"I know that she's angry with me but I have to tell her this", Dawn thought to herself.

Dawn went to Elaine's class at lunch, where she found Elaine having lunch with Dion.

"Hi Elaine, Dion", Dawn said walking over to them.

"Can I talk to you Elaine", she continued not waiting for them to reply.

"I'm having lunch with Dion right now Dawn", Elaine replied.

It's okay Elaine, I gotta go anyway", Dion jumped in, "see ya later tonight.

"What is it you want to talk about, Dawn?" Elaine asked suspiciously after Dion left.

"Lainie, I don't want to talk bad about Dion, however…"

"Then don't Dawn," Elaine jumped in, because I don't want to hear it.

"However," Dawn continued, "I overheard a few guys talking in English class this morning. They were talking about how Dion plans on getting you drunk and taking advantage of you tonight"

"Really Dawn!" Elaine exclaimed angrily, "why are you saying these things? I know Dion and he is not like you think he is."

"Elaine, please listen to me Dawn said. I just don't want you to get hurt, you're my best friend."
"Dawn I am going out with Dion tonight!" was Elaine angry reply. "If you want to preserve what little friendship we have left, you won't say another word".

On that note Elaine got up and stormed off leaving a discouraged and embarrassed Dawn in her classroom.
