For 15-year-old Leshea Jones, the summer vacation was an enjoyable one where she was able to forget about high school and all the work that goes along with it and simply have fun. However as the new school year rolls in she is ready to put the relaxation of summer behind her andconcentrate on having a great school year.

Leshea, an honor roll student at Grand Bahama Catholic High School has just entered the tenth grade. In her last term in ninth grade she took seven B.J.C�s (Bahamas Junior Certificate) and passed all seven with very good grades. One of her goals this school year is to achieve her usual success as an honor roll student but with an even higher grade point average. She would also love to be chosen as MVP of the soccer team.

This model student whose future goal is to become a Youth Counselor, was described to me by an officer in her church�s youth department as a beautiful young lady with a sweet smile and a gentle spirit. She describes herself as a, radical, honest, responsible child of God.

An avid music lover, this teen not only loves listening to different types of music but enjoys singing, writing music and making beats for them as well. In response to the question, �what is your favorite song?� she replied, �Oh man, that�s a tough one because I love so many songs!� However she finally narrowed it down to �Praise is What I Do� by Shekinah. She likes this song because it talks about praising God through good and bad situations.

Recognizing the sacrifices and unconditional love of a mother, Leshea names her mother as the person who inspires her most in life. �I chose my mother,� she said, �because other than God she is the only person who is always there for me.�

Leshea�s advice to young ladies on how they can make their world a better place is, �think before you act and choose your friends wisely.�
