Spotlight on Keora Brown

by B. McIntosh

Loves life, loves to laugh. This phrase describes 17 years old Keora Brown perfectly. This teen is a twelfth grader at Abaco Central High School, where she is also the head girl. She describes her role as head girl as: a very challenging role because the entire school body is watching me.

Keora leads a pretty busy life as a high school senior. She is presently the president of the Interact Club and Captain of the Debate Team. As if that isn't enough she also Peer Tutors.

Outside of school Keora is a member of her church's praise team as well as a praise dancer. She also enjoys writing for the Abaconian, her island's newspaper.

BM: What is your most special memory of your senior year?
KB:
My most special memory of my senior year was when my whole family helped to cut my hair and the whole school stopped and laughed at me.

BM: How did you handle it?
KB I took a bow.
BM: You certainly handled it with grace and dignity.
KB: I realized that they were only trying to upset me and I tried not to let them.

BM: What will you miss most?
KB: I will miss my teachers the most. They have supported me and helped me to become as driven as I am today. They have definitely pushed me to become my absolute best.
BM: What are your plans for the future?
KB:
I am focusing on becoming a doctor but I am leaving myself open for change. I really want to make the right decision because that decision will affect the rest of my life.
BM: Who are your role models and why?
KB:
My role models are; My mother because she is smart and beautiful. I want to be just like her! My grandmother, because she has so much wisdom to give. My stepfather because, he has such a good heart.

BM: What do you attribute your success to?
KB:
Total submission to the will of God in my life.
BM: What advice do you have for the young ladies you are leaving behind?
KB:
I would advise them to trust God and keep working towards their dreams because they can come true!
