I see myself as ambitious. I don't live according to what others feel I should do. I want the best out of this life and I plan on achieving it. I am open minded, I listen to criticism and use it to my advantage. I love to laugh and enjoy myself and I love to see the people around me the same way.
This is how Bronell DeGamma, this issue's Spotlight Teen,
describes herself. This 17-year-old twelfth grader attends St.
Georges' High School where she is the current Head Girl
Bronell is involved several after school activities including
Junior Achievement, 20 Pearls and The Jag, her school's newspaper.
Although she has a hectic schedule, Bronell still manages to
maintain a grade point average of 3.61. According to Bronell,
she does well academically because she concentrates on what is
most important first, her school work. In her free time Bronell
enjoys talking on the telephone and listening to music.
B.M. What is your main goal for the future?
B.D. I want to become a Pharmacist and Ultrasound Technologist.
I really want to be the first female in my family to graduate
from college.
B.M. Who inspires you most in life and why?
B.D. God and my mother. God gives me the strength to excel
in whatever I put my mind to and the courage to challenge myself
to get ahead in life. My mother is always there, ensuring that
I do the right things and encouraging me to do my best at whatever
I choose.
B.M. do you see yourself as a role model for other young
ladies?
B.D. I really don't live my life thinking about whether
or not I am a role model. I try to live in a way to keep myself
and God happy.
My closing questions to Bronell were, what makes you smile and what makes you sad. Her answer? Almost anything makes me smile. I can find something to laugh about in the most difficult situation. What makes me sad? Knowing that there are people in the world who want to see me fail and knowing I did not do my best and regretting it when it is too late.
Bronell's final thought, which I absolutely love is, "I
always believe that You gotta keep your head up" and
that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me." My philosophy is that all things in the world happen
to teach us something so that we may become wiser. You must find
God in everything no matter how hard it may seem.
Note
Bronell was recommended to me by a co-worker of her father Santana
DeGamma, who talks about her constantly.
If you think that you, or someone you know, would make a good
Spotlight Teen do drop me a line and tell me about yourself. P.O.
