It's Getting Hot in Here, My Neck, My Back, Ya'll Gone Make Me Lose My Mind, Cleaning Out My Closet, Ladies and Gentlemen these are a few examples of some of the most offensive, provocative music that you would find teenagers listening to today. The lyrics in these few examples are to be considered outrageously offensive to Christian principles. As a matter of fact, if you listen to most of the modern music, they invite youths to participate in violence and sexual acts before marriage and make them think it's okay without even considering the consequences of these actions.
Listen to the lyrics of this song Ladies and Gentlemen, "It's getting hot in here so take off all your clothes." This is the message being sent to our youths, "take off all your clothes." For what!! If it's so hot in here, can we not just turn on the fan or the AC? What was this person thinking when he wrote this song, if he was thinking at all?
Another example, ladies and gentlemen, Cleaning Out My Closet
by Eminem, this song is being rated number one on the charts,
its "off the chains" if you ask any teenager
today. In this song Eminem speaks about his broken childhood
in the most disgusting way possible. The man wishes his father
would die and he hates his
mother, and yet the song is still "off the chains".
Think about influence Ladies and Gentlemen. Influence is an effect something would have on your mind and how that would be reflected in your life. So when this type of music affects the minds of Christian youths, what is going to be reflected in their lives?
Webster's Dictionary defines the word secular as " of worldly, non-religious things". The Bible says in the 12th chapter of Romans to " be not conformed to this world", meaning be not conformed of to secularism, "but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." This means that Christian youths should neither have nor want any thing to do with secular things. The bible says whatsoever things are true, honest, just. Pure, lovely and of good report if their be any virtue if their be any praise, think on these things.
In closing Christian Youths should be an example of God's holiness to society in their thoughts, words, and actions. For this reason, ladies and gentlemen be it resolved that Christian youths should not listen to secular music. Thank you.
Ladies, this is actually part of a Sunday School Debate, presented
by a young man who wishes to remain anonymous. I thought he did
an excellent job. My challenge to you is to rebut his argument.
Come on ladies, this is Girl Talk! I know you like your music!
