More Than Anyone Wanted To Know About ME!!!
So what is there to me? If you've read farther than the first sentence here, then I guess you really want to know. OK. I'll tell you.

First off, let me tell you how I got to Japan. I learned about the JET Program from my Japanese teacher in college. I applied (not an easy task), got to interview, and here I am living in Hyogo Prefecture! I am very close to Kobe, so I can see Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto with relative ease. I love the culture and the fact that every morning I can wake up, look outside and go "Wow, I'm living in Japan!" The job is challenging. I remember how much high school students hated foreign language classes, and it's no different here. I work at a vocational high school for nursing and home economics, so English is not a high priority on these girls' minds (there's a few boys too by the way). Outside of class, though, they are some of the most endearing kids you could ever meet. See my Hyogo Life page (under construction) for more on my school and life in Japan!

I love to compose music.  Someday I'll get the pieces I've written so far uploaded. (I have to convert them from Mac format first.) Someday I dream of going to Hollywood and writing the most wonderful scores ever and marrying Danny Elfman.  Then my sister will marry Tim Burton and we will make the greatest movies ever!! (
Go here for my sister's page!)  Yeah, sure, it's a dream, but what else keeps people going these days?

I love anime!  I only discovered it a few years ago when Sailor Moon would run in the mornings on UPN.  Instantly I had to know everything there is on this wonderful world.  I'm still learning.  I also like to try to draw anime.  I'll try to get some of my work uploaded soon.  My manga collection is now unbelievable, and I tape every anime I can. My favs right now are Inuyasha, Meitantei Conan, and Card Captor Sakura. I hears Cardcaptors is in the States now, but it's not the same as the Japanese one and the anime is nowhere near what the manga is. Alot is lost in translation and conversion to TV format. I hope to make a page to my favorites soon. Check back regularly!

Chemistry is my next love.  Only organic chemistry, that is.  I majored in it at
Murray State University.  Some day I want to work for R & D at a major pharmaceutical company, designing syntheses for the latest drugs and isolating natural products for medicinal use.  I have to complete graduate school first, though!

I also love to write.  It's another dream of mine to become the world's greatest sci-fi/fantasy novelist.  Sure, I have alot of deams, but I think everyone should aspire to be everything they want to be, not just one thing.  Kind of like a personal Renaissance.

Check back for updates!!
2/12/2000 - Update! I got through the first screening of the JET program, which sends college graduates to Japan to teach English as assistant language teachers. I'm so excited!! I have to go to New Orleans (like they're forcing me!!) to interview at the Japanese Embassy at the end of this month. Wish me luck!! More after the interview!

12/29/00 - Hey, I'm in Japan! I'm teaching at Shingu Senior High School in Hyogo Prefecture. I finally have access to a computer for a bit, so I am updating like crazy. Check out the cool stuff on Japanese culture coming soon.

3/21/01 - So it's been a while since I've written...I've decided to stay another year in Japan! I love it here! It's mostly because of the people here. I don't really miss home and family and friends as much as you think I would because I have so many friends here...on another note, I am being taunted recently with, "Stacie's got a boyfriend". Yes, there is someone Stacie's interested in, (and he is actually interested IN ME!) but we only just met a few weeks ago. If anything develops there, you, the cyberusers, will be the first to know...also, it's haruyasumi (spring break) here, so alot of updates will probably happen this week. Be sure to check it out!
