We stayed with Catherine's Uncle and Aunt in Osaka.
Here we get a lesson on the preservation of their family's heirloom samurai swords.
Outside the Temple and throughout the town of Nara, there are thousands of deer. They can be pretty aggressive when you have food.

We spent a lot of time trying to feed this little Japanese Bambi - all the bigger deer kept stealing his food.
This is the Todai-ji Temple in the city of Nara. Originally built in AD 752, it's the largest wooden structure in the world.
The following photos are from our trip to Japan in March 2001.  While Catherine has been there many times, this was Rob's first trip abroad!

We spent 4 days in Osaka and 6 days in Tokyo.

Here we are in front of Osaka Castle.
