JUNE 2002
June 2002

June 5, 2002:
Well, I know I haven't kept up the ol' journal lately, but fewer entries means longer entries, of course (your vulture mouths must be watering). I seriously do have a lot to write about, though, and since my running countdown to the Farewell expired last Friday, I'm thinking Willow Tree Grove is the only perfect place to start. I had a blast at the Farewell! I felt bad, though, because Tony bought me a corsage, but I didn't buy him flowers. Fortunately, my conscience cleared before we arrived at Willow Tree Grove. I stopped at BK to show off my dress and everything, picked up Tony, picked up Sam and Chris, and went to Steph's. I wanted to follow Langley because I didn't know the way. Anyway, I complained to Steph about not buying Tony flowers, and her mom mentioned that she could always snip a couple of her yellow roses from her yard. Sounds stupid, I know, but the tiny rose buds didn't look half bad! Food, pictures, the senior class video (ordered a copy, of course), music and dancing, only to end up sleeping over at Langley's with ten of my awesome friends! What more could I ask for, huh? Unfortunately, Tony had to go straight home afterward, but I'm still glad I asked him to take me.:) His presence added a little comedy to my table (we sat with Sam and Chris and Steph and Langley). Although my mom isn't exactly a hair dresser, she curled my hair (which lasted for approximately 30 seconds), and I went cheap and picked up a pack of fake, press-on, pre-painted nails at K-Mart for a few bucks (no sense in being expensive about it when I work the day after, right?). I got my groove on with Heather Jasper for faster songs when Tony wasn't in the mood to dance, and I saved all except one slow dance for Tony, of course (I danced with Heather Raby's date, Ted Balliet, once because he used to work at BK with me, and he's awesome). Jim Curry fired up the stage with N'Sync's "Pop"-haha! What a fun night! I had more fun at the Farewell this year than I had at the Prom last year! I think that maybe I wasn't expecting too much this year. I mean, the Prom was fun, even with the crowning of the King and Queen, but I think that maybe I was too excited about the Prom last year. Makes perfect sense to me-haha! Once everyone woke up at Langley's and left whenever, Steph and me were the only two remaining, so the three of us (Steph and Langley and me) motivated ourselves enough to make a lunch run to Subway in our pajamas-haha. How cool am I in my cute, blue ducky pajamas with matching blue ducky socks at Subway? I am the ultimate "quill"est (creative writing takes its toll on late-night phone conversations with Courtney-haha). Speaking of Courtney, tomorrow's class will be fun. Mrs. Evans is letting us have a little party and bring snacks and drinks to celebrate an awesome semester, and I have my disposable camera locked and loaded-haha! We're going to see "Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood" with Jessica on Friday, too! YA-YA! Courtney wants me to sleep over afterward, and I can't wait to stay up until dawn playing those childhood games again! Speaking of Jessica, she bought a car last week! Congratulations, Jessica! She seems excited about owning a car, and she talks about it almost constantly-haha! Plus, she created a new nickname for our tiny group of three. We are the Dolphin Triumvirate (think "Julius Caesar")! Anyway, James graduated yesterday, and he's on his way to Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia! Congratulations, James! He started e-mailing me again for some reason and wants to start hanging out more often because he'll be going to school closer to me. Pretty cool, huh? I hope his family will see me graduate. My Aunt Lynn and Uncle John are my Godparents, after all.:) I can't wait to find out who my two roommates will be! The suspense! The drama! The waiting! Only three school days remain until graduation! I'm so excited! Anyway, Johnathan has been writing to me lately, and I haven't found enough time to sit down to write back to him at one time, but I want to so badly about everything. I love reading every single solitary letter from him-haha! Finding that brightly colored envelope in the mailbox makes me smile like an idiot every time, even if the day from Hell preceeded my discovered treasure.:) Well, I don't work tomorrow, so I hope I can relax long enough to sit and write forever. Sleep tight!
June 19, 2002:
I'm a high school graduate! June 13, 2002! I'm so happy and excited to be free at last. Connections is next week, and staying overnight at Kutztown will be fun. I can't wait to write about the experience. Graduation was a blast, though. Of course, the 9am practice was boring, and everyone complained about practicing sitting and standing-haha! But once practice ended, the faculty grilled steak and chicken for the senior class picnic (first one ever)! There was potato salad and ice cream, veggies, drinks, everything perfect for a picnic! I decided at practice that graduation wouldn't make me cry because the ceremony would be boring and longer than it should be. Besides, graduation is more for parents than for students, anyway. Guess what. I cried, of course, but the strangest thing about it was that I didn't cry when I received my diploma or when I realized that I'd never enter Northern Lehigh as a student again. I cried when the school presented diplomas to WWII veterans who dropped out of high school to join the armed forces! I mean, how awesome is that? A cute little boy scout handed out American flags and everything! I cried more when Johnathan graduated last year-haha! Anyway, I'm not busy anymore (except for working, of course), so I'm enjoying time for myself and watching TV and movies a lot. I hang out with Courtney and Sam and sleep a lot-haha! I love being lazy! I took a weekend to watch the original "Star Wars" trilogy and also checked out "Episode I," and I saw "Episode II" at AMC on Monday, so I'm digging myself deeper into the saga by the day. Interesting. I'm glad I understand everything with the plot twists and who's who because knowing what's going on makes the story fascinating. Of course, I have to thank my teacher, Jim, my manager, and Johnathan, too, because I would never have become interested in "Star Wars" in the first place if not for them. Mr. Hauck, my Spanish teacher, had a lot to do with it, too. Have you seen the new "Star Wars" cereal? I'm probably going to see "Episode II" again tomorrow, with or without Courtney, because I don't work, and I'm sure I'll catch a lot more of the small details this time around. What else have I been up to? Let me see. I've been downloading a lot of new music lately because summer always brings awesome tunes for the season. Sam's been driving to get her license, and she's pretty nervous about driving for real. Chuck's been "on tour" while Ron, the new guy, acts as a manager at work, and Wendy's in jail. She stole a carton of cigarettes, Chuck told me, anyway, and I guess she was on probation to begin with. I haven't seen scary Sean camo guy for a good long time, so I'm not worried about him anymore. Chris finally got Christine to break up with her jerk-ass boyfriend, and they're dating. I worked yesterday, and I absolutely love the new system for keeping the food fresh. Every type of meat is kept in its own color-coded drawer, and only buns are kept in the new steamer in rows that slide out when they're empty. Buttons keep holding times so that I don't have to remember useless numbers. If the red light is flashing, waste the food. Simple, right? I think I'm going to head over early to get something to eat today, too. I'm dining room person, and I'm glad because I don't close. I'd choose dining room over closing any day of the week! Of course, I'd choose day shift over night shift, too. Anyway, Johnathan set up a new poll on his site, and you know I'll be voting everyday-haha!:) Which reminds me! I didn't vote today! Catch you later!
June 22, 2002:
Mornin' fellow night owls! It's 2:34am, and I'm talking to Courtney on the house phone. She's leaving for Stone Harbor, New Jersey at 4am, so she's pulling an all-nighter. Closing was awful, and I felt like I had fallen into the thirteenth realm of Hell. Customers non-stop until 11:30pm and nothing done early. Me and Joe trained Tony because he was a closing virgin. I trained Aaron, too, because he was a dining room virgin, so I was a busy girl tonight-haha! I get around at work. I didn't leave work until almost 1:20am, and I took Joe and Tony home before I went home myself. I talked to Nick online for a few minutes, but he decided to be boring and leave me online alone-haha! Chris or Joe left a cute note on my car on Wednesday, and it made me feel a lot better after work sucked, so I was happy for the rest of the night. Simple pleasures for simple people, I guess-haha! Life is good as long as I feel loved, okay? I can't wait to rent "Serendipity" because Courtney's going to the beach, and I'm renting enough movies to keep my days occupied. I'm so excited for Connections next week! Sleeping over at college being all grown up and awesome like that, Baby! Oh, yeah! How college girl am I? Anyway, I don't have much to say because I'm boring at 3:48am, so I decided I'm going to pull an all-nighter, too, and haul my lazy ass upstairs to watch a movie-haha! "Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head)!"
June 23, 2002:
Me and my cousin James saw "Scooby-Doo" last night after I worked. What a funny/cute movie! And I was pretty surprised by who the villain was, even though James guessed before the cat left the bag and ruined my fun again-haha! He's been kinda decent to hang out with lately, and the family reunion is today at Victory Park, so I'm all over that scene before I work at 4pm. I know, I know. Family reunion. Boring as all Hell. Old people I don't know. But at least James is my age, and we'll be able to relate to each other or something. I won't die or anything crazy like that if I hang out at the family reunion for a couple hours. Why not? Courtney's having the time of her life gettin' all sandy and tanned at the beach in perfectly sunny Stone Harbor, New Jersey, I'm sure, and I can't wait to read her postcard! Connections is on Wednesday, and I'm excited about spending the night on campus. I'm nervous about taking the English placement test, though, but I think I'll be OK. I hope so, anyway. I mean, college placement test. I hope I don't get stuck in stupid kid English my first year, you know?...
...My family reunion didn't suck or anything, but James and I were damn bored. We hung out at the swings and tried to determine which of our relatives are "nerds" and whether or not they're "nerds" because it's genetic using those whatever-they're-called charts with dominant and recessive whatever (which makes us "nerds," too-haha!). Turned out Chris left that cute note on my car last week that said "I <3 U!"-haha! Before I left work tonight, I wrote back "I <3 U 2!" and taped my note to his steering wheel (he never locks his car doors)-haha! I can be just as cute as he can be. Besides, he closes tonight, and he'll be pissed by the time he leaves work, anyway, so at least I'll be able to make him smile. Anyway, no headline-makin', late-breakin', sitcom-interruptin' news from sleepy Slatington tonight, so I guess (as my brother would say) I'm out like the trash!
June 25, 2002:
Tonight was almost perfect! Ron scheduled me and Chris in drive-thru, so I took advantage of that situation. Plus, another closing and another cute note from Chris this time on top of my car door (I, on the other hand, always lock my car doors-haha!). He e-mailed me after he closed (early, early) this morning to say he'd probably ask me out if he wasn't seeing Christine. Felt pretty damn good to read what he wrote to me, but still his e-mail wasn't exactly what a girl wants to hear, you know? Yeah, I'd ask you out, but I'm dating someone else. Right. Besides, he also told me every one of his three "relationships" have each lasted for exactly 28 days. I told him he should play that number-haha! Ironically enough, however, today is 22 days for Christine. Of course, he's trying to break his record, he said-haha. Well, I'm feeling like a smart-ass, so when he sent me his survey for me to talk about him, I made his "28 Days Syndrome" the focus of more than one of my answers. "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" "Maybe just for 28 days." "Who do you think I will marry?" "The one who holds your attention for more than 28 days." A cute survey to send to your friends so they can make fun of you and rip you apart without you taking them too seriously, so I even went as far as to send him a blank copy for him to talk about me. I'll just be forced to relay what he answers for "Do you want me?"-haha! Or "Would you like to kiss me?"-haha! I honestly can't wait for him to reply. I won't talk to Courtney until Friday! She decided to stay in Stone Harbor longer, and I'm going to be in Kutztown on Wednesday and Thursday. I hope she reads Thinking Aloud to catch herself up, and I'll be able to talk to her without too much explanation on Friday. I'm sure she'll be craving Thinking Aloud by the time she gets home, though, so I don't doubt she'll know everything before I get home. I might be hanging out with Jessica today and seeing a movie or something. She called me, but I worked, so I'll call her back sometime this morning when I think she should be awake to make plans. She wants to see "Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood," which I wouldn't mind seeing a second time. Maybe we'll eat instead. Whatever. But I guess I should hit the sack and catch up on my beauty rest before I fall asleep in my food-haha! I'm out like a fat girl playing dodge ball-haha! Night!
June 25, 2002:
All I want is for someone to kiss me! Well, I caught your attention, didn't I? In all seriousness, though, I'm feelin' mighty lonely and depressed today. Think about this bleak tidbit. I haven't been kissed since February! How much does being single suck sometimes, huh? Not fun. I was in a good mood earlier, but I went from "Soak Up The Sun" to "Just Like A Pill" within a mere half hour's time. Well, I'm seeing "Scooby-Doo" with Jessica later, and Connections is tomorrow, so I hope getting out of the house will cheer me up. Maybe the change in scenery will change my disposition. Plus, every day that passes brings me closer to Virginia! I can't wait until August! Anyway, Kyle's last baseball game before the playoffs is today, and the only way the team will make the playoffs is if it wins today's game. Good luck, Northern Lehigh! Well, I guess I should get myself psyched for a girls' night out, so take care, and stay tuned for the latest. I'm out like I just got punched!
June 29, 2002:
So much to write, so little time! First of all, I just want to say that college was rad! I can't wait to move in! I already met three girls who I think could be three good friends once we're living on campus. Plus, me and one of the girls requested each other to be roommates! I collected the girls' e-mail addresses and phone numbers, and I'm planning to call Abby (roommate) at least once before we move in. We need to get on a wavelength and figure out together what to bring and what not to bring with us. The two of us are going to have one more roommate in our double-converted-into-a-triple room, and I know we're hoping she won't be a drinker-haha! Teaching majors (such as myself) absolutely must have a squeaky clean record in order to teach, so I can't afford to live with someone who keeps alcohol in our room, you know? Big trouble. I signed up for choir and wanted to join the Association for the Education of Young Children (teaching major, remember?), but I needed a membership form and couldn't get one because the organization ran out of forms. I'll just be forced to join in August, I guess. No big deal. I'm serious about getting involved in college, though, because I didn't get involved in high school, and I kinda feel like getting involved and joining clubs and organizations could help me to meet new people and to enjoy campus life more than I would if I didn't get involved. I mean, independence and campus life and experiencing new situations! What could be better than college? Anyway, I even chose my own courses for my first semester, and I'll receive my real schedule in about two weeks! And how exciting is Spanish, huh? I took the online Spanish placement test while I was at Connections, and I placed in Spanish III! College Spanish III! Do you know what that means? That means I receive credits for taking college Spanish courses I, II, and III! Freakin' "quill" or what? Courtney called me on Tuesday before "Scooby-Doo," and I invited her to see the movie with me and Jessica. She's so sweet she bought me presents! She gave me a cute teddy bear dressed as a Galapagos sea tortoise named Sandy! And get this-a magnet with a picture of a dolphin on it! And it says "LIFE IS GOOD!" How perfect! Well, the (evil) working hour approaches upon swift wings, and I must away, but don't believe for even one second I'm through! Strike three-I'm out!
June 30, 2002:
OK, how S.P.E.D. (So Pathetically Excruciatingly Duh) is Courtney? She sent me a postcard FROM HER HOUSE (after she got home from Stone Harbor) but didn't address the postcard or even write her return address on it! Of course, I won't find her postcard in my mailbox-haha! Anyway, Northern Lehigh lost last Tuesday's game, so the team didn't make the playoffs, obviously. Better luck next year, Northen Lehigh! Kyle says the team sucked, anyway, so at least he's not too upset about losing the last game. I worked tonight (SURPRISE!), and Jon Snyder came in with his mom. Remember Jon? Try February 2002-haha! He's still working at Valley, and he makes more money after how many months than I do working at BK nearly two years now. I hate my job. I can't wait to quit. Only about a month until I'm finally free (hopefully) forever! Do you know how much that place screws with my head? I knew I was dining room shift today, so I went over at 4pm and punched in. My shift: 5-10:30pm. What? I don't understand why dining room shift can't have a fixed time frame! Last week dining room shift was 4-9:30pm, and two weeks ago it was 4-9:45pm. Plus, the Bartos keep hiring more and more rookies! I closed last night with a closing virgin-and no one else! Chris came in tonight, too, with Christine, so he didn't leave a cute note on my car, but I wasn't too disappointed, anyway. Courtney, me, and Tony are going to see the Crocodile Hunter movie! Good times, Mate-haha! Zachy enlisted in the United States Navy! Good luck, Zachy! If you don't write to me, I'll kick your ass-haha! I guess I'm not exciting tonight, huh? Well, check out my newest picture on my Me page, I guess, and keep signing my guestbook. Be on the lookout for July 2002 this week! I'm out like a candle in a hurricane!
