History:
In the Summer of 1998, I decided to develop a homepage and started working on it. At first, I didn't know anything about a homepage or the way it is designed. Slowly by slowly, I learned some of the things about developing it and decided to have a little elaborate sort of homepage rather than a single-page homepage. My first homepage was published using an account provided by my university when I was a masters student in South Dakota.

Mission:
This homepage has been designed with a two-fold mission: one for academic purposes and the other for non-academic purposes. Non-academic section includes general introduction, picture collection, jokes collection etc. Academic section is basically focussed on providing the information related to my academic qualification, job experiences, courses of studies in different levels of my education etc.

About "Blinking Eyes" and "Flaring Flag":
Both of the above images show up on the front page of my homepage: "blinking eyes" is to the left and "flaring flag" is to the right of the heading.
"Blinking Eyes" is a symbolic representation of the eyes of Gautam Buddha. Buddha was born a prince at a town called Tilaurakot, located inside present-day Nepal, some 2,500 years ago. He spent most of his life teaching the truth, generosity, non-violence, peace, and brotherhood. Even today, his teachings have been one of the greatest inspirations among the community who want to see this world live in peace and tranquility.
"Flaring Flag" is the national flag of my native country Nepal. Unfortunately, violence and killings of Nepalis by Nepalis have been an everyday phenomenon in Nepal today and this nation has stood up at the most difficult juncture in the entire history of the nation. Peace had never been so much of a desired commodity for Nepal in the past as it is today. As a birthplace of Buddha, Nepal must be the one to follow Buddha's teachings word after word.
May peace prevail in Nepal. May peace prevail all over the world!
Kiran.
