INTRODUCTION

My name is Kiran Lamichhane and I am from Kathmandu, Nepal. For the international visitors of my site who don't know much about Nepal, I've put some scenic pictures under Photographer's Nepal, showing natural beauty of this country.

I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) (located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) with a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis in structural engineering). I earned my Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis in structural engineering) from South Dakota State University (SDSU), South Dakota (USA) in 1999.

BACKGROUND

I was born as the fouth child and the first son to my parents, father Harihar Lamichhane and mother Bhagwati Lamichhane, in Sinamangal (a town four kilometers east of downtown Kathmandu) in early seventies. I have five sisters (three older and two younger) and a younger brother. I completed my School Leaving Certificate (SLC) in 1986 and then studied Intermaediate in Science (I. Sc.) in Kathmandu between 1987 and 1990. In 1991, I joined Institute of Engineering (also known as Pulchowk Engineering Campus) in Kathmandu to pursue Bachelor's Degree (B. E.) in Civil Engineering and completed this degree in 1995. I worked in a private construction company in Kathmandu for some time before coming to USA at the end of 1997.

NOSTALGIA!

Although I have left my teens far behind now, those days used to be the funniest days, to be frank. Things like hanging around with a bunch of friends all the time, keeping ourselves busy by spending countless hours doing nothing, spending a month's pocket money provided by the father in hours and roaming broke for next whole month, sometimes drinking and getting wild etc. make me nostalgic even today, and I frequently recall those moments.
