My name is Kirankumar Rajshekhar Hiremath. What's in a name? My mother calls me Krishna, my friend Ganesh calls me Kino, a few other call me professor or philosopher. At University of Twente, my Indonesian friends call me Kirun. There is something interesting about my surname. It was brought to notice Prof. Subramaniyam, mathematics professor at IIT, Bombay. He used to pronounce my surname as "Hire Math". Some people call me by that name.
I did my graduation in physics, and then post graduations in pure and applied mathematics. Being interested in research, I joined Microwave Remote Sensing Lab of Center for Studies in Resources Engineering (IIT Bombay). In October 2005, I finished my PhD from University of Twente (The Netherlands).
Currently I am a post-doctoral researcher at Optoelectronics Center, University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
