Katelen Ann
Bainbridge |
A contemporary of Cantica Carpiscis and Carmena Mercatorus, Katelen Ann Bainbridge was born in Newy, Ireland to Muggle peasants. She attended Hogwarts of England from 1648-1654, where she distinguished herself in Ravenclaw House and won the Triwizard Tournament of 1653. After clerking her way up through the Ministry of Magic, she was appointed Second Sorceress of the Realm in 1668 and delegated to the International Confederation of Wizards in 1670. Sorceress Bainbridge was one of the 15 members of the ill-fated Eldorado Expedition of 1683; she abandoned the group at the Rojopiedra Canyon in 1688 shortly before the infamous Last Owl was sent. With the aid of a bonfire and some floo powder, Bainbridge succeeded in transporting herself to Hogwarts Hall, New Salem. Bainbridge distinguished herself in American poltics and was appointed the Chief Witch and Grand Sorceress of New Salem in 1697, a post which she held for eight years, when she resigned her office to become one of the founding members of the Colonial Council of Magic. Katelen remained the First Presiding Witch of America until her death in 1724.
