Few families are aware of the cruelty that lurks beneath the surface of this festive holiday.
Around the time of year, PETA members spend countless hours fighting for the rights of the turkey. Bilboards are up all around the country, calling for the pardoning of all turkeys. Books are available online that teach children compassion towards poultry. Of course PETA's battle is year round. 365 days a week, loyal PETA members and their affiliates protest animal events, sign petitions, write letters....send threatening e-mail, stalk big names in animal industries, protest large events such as the National Rodeo Finals where all the stock is worth several thousands of dollars and not likely to be abused...hand children buckets of blood outside local KFCs...fund extremist groups who perform terrorist acts such as theft and arson, and sometimes even bodily harm...
So, who's being cruel here?
The time as come that we can no longer let groups of domestic terrorists tell us how to keep our pets or what we should eat!
What you can do this Thanksgiving:
1. Buy more meat!: Why settle for one turkey when you can buy five or six? The birds are already dead, anyway. Have a HUGE Thanksgiving party. Cook one turkey for family, and then make a huge office party of the rest! If you doubt your ability to eat multiple turkeys this year, homeless and women's shelters gladly accept donations of turkey and all the trimmings.
2. Arm yourself with knowlege: Read up on the motives and crimes of the animal rights movement. The National Animal Interest Alliance, an animal welfare group does a fine job of displaying the agendas of the AR movement here.
3. Keep an eye on local legislation: Many animal rights activists (ARA's) try to push their agenda through law. Passing breed bans, forcing stricter licensing for animal breeders, chaging wording such as "pet" to "companion animal" and "owner" to "guardian", closing down circuses and farms are all common, and actually do little to nothing to curb the alleged cruelty or unethical behavior they claim to. They can also infringe upon a PERSON'S rights.
Happy Thanksgiving from The Rabbit Mage, PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) spokesperson.
