To prove that Jesus was the descendant of Abraham though the family of King David. (Joseph's, Jesus' human father's side)

Why did baby Jesus have to be the son of the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit and not of Mary & Joseph?

Because Jesus was already the son of the Holy Spirit before he was born on Earth as a human.

Why did King Herod want to kill baby Jesus?

He doesn't want anybody to steal his position of ruling his people, of being king.

King Herod was going to kill all tee new-born babies, so God told him to go to Bethlehem.
