| Here are the rules for 2006 Fantasy Baseball ... First and foremost this season ends August 5th, so we can get ready for the SURVIVOR Fantasy Football league draft. The regular season ends July 1st. Play-offs run through July with play-off series (best two of three games) ending on Saturday, August 5th. Secondly, it only cost $15 to play RULES - I will use Yahoo Fantasy Baseball (league 241319, password baseball) to figure statistics, however weekly scores and total points scored per month will be kept on my spreadsheet for standing and play-off seeding information. DRAFT There will only be eight (8) offensive players on each team (NO PITCHERS). You are not required to draft a catcher, but you can have a catcher as your bonus player if you desire. There will not be a position for DH in 2006. All American League DHs will be assigned a position in the field. Just as in 2005 you can change the position of your bonus player at the beginning of each month. This will help if you have injured players or non-productive players. You draft eight (8) players 3 - OF 1 - 1B 1 - 2B 1 - SS 1 - 3B 1 - Bonus (any position player or catcher you wish to select) New for 2006 we will play doubleheaders each week - Tuesday and Wednesday (first game) and Friday and Saturday (second game) vs. same opponent. You START a line-up of five (5) players. Your line-up (for the first game of your doubleheader) is due by Monday at 11:00 p.m. 2 - Outfielders 1 - Middle infielder (SS or 2B) 1 - Corner infielder (1B or 3B) 1 - Misc. Player (can be any other player from your roster) BONUS PLAYER vs. MISC PLAYER - Please understand you draft a BONUS player and you start a MISC player (you do not have to start your bonus player). Your Misc. starter can be your Bonus player OR any other player on your roster. IMPORTANT Before the season starts you have to declare your Bonus player because that is the only player that you can make a transaction for a different position. Example: Kevin can CUT A. Huff (OF, but really his Bonus Player) and ADD any position player (ie another Bonus player), however he can not cut one of his other outfielders and pick up a different bonus player or any position player. Those transactions are ALL position for position. If your Bonus player is not a Catcher, then your bonus player should be (what you feel is) your weakest player at that position. That gives you more options when it comes to making transactions. Finally, you can change your BONUS player and the beginning of each month ... three times if desired (May, June and July). At this time (the beginning of each month you can request a player position move per the rules. You can change two parts of your (Tuesday/Wednesday) line-up for the second half of your doubleheader game (Friday/Saturday) by Thursday at 11:00 p.m. SCORING You score in these offensive categories. Hits - 0.25 point Doubles - 0.33 points Triples - 0.67 points Runs - 1.00 points RBI - 1.00 points HR - 0.50 points (This score is in addition to the hit, run and RBI earned) THE PLAY (and how to win) We play a head-to-head doubleheader schedule each week see schedule below. Only games from Monday/Tuesday and Friday/Saturday count toward your offensive total. Exception - The first week of the season will allow games from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the first half of your doubleheader, but NOT Sunday's Sox / Indians. Scoring allows you to get the MAXIMUM score possible for each offensive category. If your player gets three hits on Monday (two singles and a double) Then your player gets only one hit on Tuesday (a home run) Your score for this game would be .75 (hits) + .33 (double) + .5 (HR) + 2 (run, RBI) = 3.58 Then all of your five starters are added together to get your team score. |
| ANOTHER EXAMPLE Player goes 2-4 with 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 Runs on Friday Player goes 3-3 with 1 HR 1 double, 1 RBI, 3 Runs on Saturday .75 (hits) + .33 (double) + 1.0 (2 HRs) + 2 (RBI) + 3 (runs) = 7.08 points plus the statistics from your other four starters gives you your total score. TRANSACTIONS You can make one (1) transaction per week (transaction days are Sunday and Monday) Transactions are FREE Transactions will be selected based on overall record Transactions must be position for position. *You can change the position of your Bonus Player to his true baseball position at the beginning of each month. There is NO Injured Reserve, if a player is injured you can bench him or cut him - NO IR. A cut player can not be picked-up by another team until the following week. TIE-BREAKER Ties will be broken for regular season and play-offs in this manner ... First tie-breaker is the score of your third OF Note: If you start your third OF as your MISC player then your first tie-breaker score is zero. Second tie-breaker is the total of your infield bench. PLAY-OFFS At least five teams will qualify for the play-offs, eight teams CAN qualify 1.) Top two teams in each division (4 total) qualify for play-offs 2.) The TOP SCORER during each month of the season will automatically qualify for the play-offs. The top scorer from April, May and June will produce three guaranteed play-off spots. It is possible that these team will not be in the top two based on record in your division. 3.) If there is a tie for a play-off spot based on overall record, then both (all) teams will make play-offs. Only exception would be if total number of play-off teams is greater than eight (8). Then tie-breaker of division record and then most points scored would take effect. 3.) If the total number of teams is not greater than four, then highest scoring team among non-qualified teams will make the play-offs to guarantee at least five (5) teams in the play-offs. SUMMARY - We will have five teams for sure in playoffs. Eight teams CAN qualify for play-offs, but play-off schedule will not allow nine or ten teams to qualify. PAY-OUTS 10 players X $15 Total $150 April Top Scorer $10 play-off spot earned May Top Scorer $10 play-off spot earned June Top Scorer $10 play-off spot earned Tournament will be an overall seed #1 Seed $25 #2 Seed $15 #3 Seed $10 #4 Seed $5 #5 Seed $5 Champion $40 Runner-up $20 TOTAL $150 Footnotes to rules ... No position for DH in 2006. Here are the assigned positions for DH. You know that any catcher selected is automatically your bonus player. Multi-position players are assigned a position before draft. Please be prepared to select these players as your bonus player. *Subject to change means opening day line-up is their position for first month. ABOUT POSITION CHANGES - You can only draft players at there projected opening day position. Some may change, but I will use Yahoo as my projected opening day line-ups. This includes catchers (which are only Bonus players for this league). However, if your player changes positions during the season for any reason (most likely injury), then you have the chance to change his position in this fantasy league. This can only happen at the start of each month. You must get three yes votes for the owners in the opposite division from which you play. Example: If you draft L. Berkman as a 1B. He then begins playing more OF than 1B, then you can ask me to petition the league to get his position in our league changed to OF from 1B. This can be done before each month. You can also call into question another owners position move. Same number of votes needed. |
