Use this chart to determine the relationship between two people in our family.


  1. The box in the upper left corner labeled common ancestor represents whomever you have determined
    the common ancestor to be.
  2. At the top of the chart, find the column that shows the relationship of one of the people to the common
    ancestor.
  3. On the left of the chart, find row that shows the relationship of the other person to the common ancestor.
  4. The box where the column and row intersect identifies their relationship of these two people.
