The Kitchen |
As soon as you enter the large room you are struck by the overpowering smell of various herbs and spices. A large cauldron bubbles away over a warm fire. In the middle of the room is a long table, covered in numerous ingredients- some of which you have no wish to investigate further. In one corner stands several kegs, filled with what you suspect is ale or mead. A fat, bearded man enters from a door in the opposite wall. Upon seeing you, he smiles broadly and introduces himself as 'The Cook' and 'Spell Weaver'. He asks if you would like to try any of his concoctions. |

Handing you a list of spells, the Cook stresses that you must follow the instructions exactly, or they may fail. In particular, note the time of day or month when each spell has to be performed. |

Seeing Fairies |
This spell must be performed when the moon is full. Gather a handful of basil, horseberries and marigolds. Crush together to form a paste. Smear this over your eyelids and stand under an Eldertree at the rise of the moon. The fairies will be visible to you when they come out to play. If they aren't, sit down and consume several large jugs of ale - you'll be bound to see something! |

Animal Telepathy |
Do NOT perform this spell on an angry, rampaging bear! Not unless you get some kind of perverse pleasure from knowing your going to be his next meal!.
Gather a noggin of witch herb at dawn on any Wednesday. Soak the herb in a large jug of Dwarf ale for one week, then drink the brew in one sitting. If you're still standing, you'll be able to communicate telepathically with any animal within a range of 25 feet. This spell will last only five minutes, which is the usual length of time before the Dwarf ale takes effect and you pass out cold. |
