Author General J.M. Dickinson Source A Catalog of Traveler's Rest Arabian Horses Date 1947 Text At the National Arabian Show in 1933, Gharifet proved herself to be an outstanding brood mare. Though in rough, pasture condition she won fifth prize in a class of 12, the greatest ring of Arabian mares that had ever been seen in the United States. Then to confirm her position, her colt, Ju-Dhar, and filly, Gutne, won fourth and fifth prizes in the class of weanlings and yearlings. At the National Arabian Show of 1934, the record of Gharifet's produce placed her in the very forefront of Arabian brood mares. Her daughter, Gutne, was second in the class for two- and three-year-old stallions and mares, and her son, Jagai, was first prize weanling colt or filly and National Champion weanling or yearling. At the Arabian Show in Nashville in 1935, Gharifet won first prize for Arab mares, and the Bistany trophy. In defeating mares bred in France, Brazil, and the Syrian desert, she established her premier position as a show mare of the highest Arab quality, as well as a great producer. |
