He arrives a week or so after Sakura Kinomoto releases the Clow Cards. He is the descendent of Clow Reed, the maker of the Clow Cards, and there fore has a share of magical powers. He was transfered to Tomoeda to capture the clow cards. His family wishes to reclaim the cards. Li-kun is a great fighter. When capturing cards he usually wears a green outfit, and uses a traditional (family emblem) sword that he uses to capture the clow cards.
