SPRING SMALLBORE COMPETITION SCHEDULE:

The competition season is here. Some of you have been anxiously waiting for this phase of our project. Competition shooters will be divided into relay times by course of fire and further divided by age and competition experience. All shooters will be assigned a specific shooting time, rifle and firing lane. Unlike other phases of our Shooting Sports Program, there will be strict adherence to technical rules, times, and courses of fire as we advance into the competition phase of our shooting experience. This particular shooting experience demands discipline, concentration, and patience, but the rewards are high as shooters continue to log their personal best score, again and again. We hope you are ready for another competitive year, however this exciting and sometimes-stressful shooting experience is not for everyone. If this is not your idea of shooting fun, please check back with us after the competition season and watch your monthly newsletter for other shooting opportunities.

We continue to have requests for high power and long range shooting experiences. Jim Bader, Bader Equipment Company, and the Texas State 4-H Shooting Sports Foundation have teamed together to finish our long-range rifle ranges. With those improvements now finished, the Shooting Sports Committee plans to offer both of those opportunities later in the year.
There are also plans for an Air Pistol Project later in the year. Unfortunately, due to limited coaching staff we cannot offer multiple projects at the same time.
Remember, if you have not attended a safety meeting and your rule form has not been signed by your parent/legal guardian, you will not be able to participate in any live-fire Shooting Sports activity.
