Tiger

They may call the lion the king of the jungle, but the largest member of the cat family is actually the tiger. These striped orange felines from the continent of Asia can weigh as much as 700 pounds and grow to be 9 feet long.

And unlike lions, who live in social groups, or prides, adult tigers are solitary. In order to have enough food to eat, each cat needs his or her own territory about the size of a city. This way, tigers rarely cross each other's paths. But whenever a male meets up with a female, they greet each other with a friendly vocalization that sounds like "Fuf-fuf-fuf" That's tiger for hello!
