Aardvark
Who's that sniffing near the termite mound, with his ears pointed forward and his nose to the ground? It's Africa's aardvark--and boy, does he look hungry!
This 120-pound mammal sure works hard for his dinner. First, he uses megapowerful spoon-shaped claws--he's got four on his front feet and five on his back feet--to break through hard, clay termite nests and ant mounds. Next, out comes his sticky 12-inch tongue to lick up the insects inside.
When he's not digging for food, the ardvark chills out by working around the house. This involves--you guessed it--more digging. An aardvark's underground burrow may be more than 40 feet long, and some are designed like complicated mazes with more than 20 entrances and exits. Just be glad that it's not your job to vacuum!
