| Lets get the real bad guys. | ||||
| It's very hard for me to understand the mind of a police officer. What makes someone want to be a cop anyways? Can't they design their own rules, and set up their own operation? If I ever have kids and they ever want to become a cop, I would have a sit down talk with them Danny Tanner style. I would rather have a homosexual son, than a son that would consider law enforcement as a profession. I am very upset with the rules we obide as a Country. Rules in gerneral are a joke. As if we were a perfect species. Everyone washes their hands after they use the restroom or touch something with germs, perfect. Everyone goes exactly the speed limit, perfect. Especially cops, the most perfect. Everyone has perfect skin, perfect mental capacity, and perfect teeth, with a perfect body size. No one lies, perfect. My biggest problem with rules are they leave no room for exceptions. We have rules for reasons. All cops know these rules. Of course they went to school and memorized them. Good job Mr. Police officer. You can read and write, plus you can memorize the same shit after four years of waste. I bet you were an obiding citizen during your schooling too. I disagree. Here is my complaint: We have a law that says anyone under the age of 21 cannot consume or possess alcohol. But, you may sell alcohol at 18. Because selling is not possessing of course. Why would we have this law? I suppose anyone under 21 is irresponsible, and is more likely to make a bad/fatal decision. I agree with that. But, I don't agree that everyone under the age of 21 is irresponsible and would make a fatal decision. I think there are exceptions. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to have one beer, one sip of a beer. No matter what that person does after that, he/she has broken the law. Even if their 21st birthday is in three minutes(not my case), they have technically broken the law, and are subject to a ticket. And if they are so much as rude to the officer they may go to jail(almost my case). The more I get in trouble the funnier the show Reno 9-1-1 gets. I do not beleive all cops are aware of the reasons we have these laws, otherwise they would have room for exceptions. Obviously I am quite bias, but that is why I am here. My Situation Three other friends (being 21,20, and 18) and I were walking through an alley to another friends 21st birthday party(that included 19-22 year olds). The place is about three blocks away from our place, and two blocks down I, carrying a case of coors light(with two hands because of the broken handle) get stopped by a man that claimed to be an undercover police officer who asked me how old I was. I immediately told him the beer was my friend's, who was 21. The cop then asked my friend how old he was. He told us to sit down, it took me three times. After reviewing the situation, and an earful of my opinion, we ended with three underage drinkers(me blowing a measly .052) and a furnishing alcohol ticket. Now, the 21 year old bought the beer yes. But he had a bag in his hand that had a bottle of 99 berries. The case's handle was broken and needed to be carried with two hands. How are we supposed to get all this alcohol to our friend's house? Doesn't seem very realistic for one man to carry a case of beer without a handle and a bag with a full bottle of liquor three blocks. It seems pretty inconvinient to me. Especially when there are three other people that are physically capable of carrying one of them. I find it quite harmless for an 18 or 20 year old to carry an unopened case of beer. But it is illegal according to the police officers. And not only does the underage get a possession of alcohol ticket, the 21 year old gets a furnishing alcohol ticket. And the beer is confiscated. I disagree sir. This is very unreasonable. This is what pisses people off. This is the kind of stuff that causes people to start off bad in early adulthood. It all starts with an underage. Then they feel the need to rebel right away it's in our nature. I for one want to kill someone. I won't but I feel like I could. Imagine someone younger, with less control. Instead I want to switch majors and become officer Heath Graves' Boss. I found the cops that handled the situation to be very unprofessional as well. They made it clear to me that they were on overtime by repetition. As if I had any sympathy for them. And Officer Heath Graves informed me that he had two underage drinking tickets when he was 18. More sympathy from me. And his father was on the force, proving to me once again the most obvious lesson in life: It's not what you know, but who you know. I understand I gave both the cops a hard time, but they did not need to use expletives in their language. They are supposed to be role models, and cool under fire. C. None of the above sir. But I think I understand why these cops busted us. I bet the extra butt pats were amazing. But I learned a lot about myself after this experience. Even though I told the cops what I thought about our current laws, and them, I still choked. I let them push me around more than I should have let them. Let, me tell you, never again. I will not be intimidated by a man behind a badge again. I can be as rude as I want, I have an opinion and I am not impressed with your badge. My Solution Anyone that graduates High School may consume alcohol within the blood alcohol content of .1, absolute sobriety laws still apply while driving. But you must be 21 to purchase alcohol. Breathalizers are needed to be used for tickets to be issued. This would even cause more motivation for some to graduate High School, if not, oh well. |
