KINGSTON PUBLIC MARKET VENDORS' ASSOCIATION NEWS
RELEASE
Kingston Market now has its very own logo!
It appears at the top of the side bar on the left of this page.
In a logo design contest recently organized by the Kingston Public
Market Vendors' Association (KPMVA), over 30 designs were received
from the public.
The winning design was created by Jonathan Sugarman.
"It was a challenging logo to design", said Mr. Sugarman. "How do
you combine all of the elements of the Market- the produce, the flowers,
baked goods, the architectural element of city hall- and still have
an easy to read logo?
I approached it by making icons to represent these elements and placed
them in a checkerboard pattern, which allows each element to stand
out on its own without conflicting with the others."
The logo will be featured on new signs to be erected on market square
(home of the Kingston Market). It will also been found on promotional
pamphlets and a new market newsletter.
The KPMVA would like to thank all those who submitted entries to the
logo contest. Each and every one was a winner in its own right- a
clear demonstration of the pride Kingstonians have in their Market!
The winning logo was on display at the Market Square on Tuesday, April
17, 2001, at which time Mr. Sugarman was presented with a cheque for
$300, his prize for winning the logo contest.
