Trumpets

Well, so far we've seen how Jesus has been fulfilling the feasts in order:  He was crucified on Passover, buried on Unleavened Bread, resurrected on Firstfruits, and sent the Holy Spirit on Shavuot.  The next feast in order is the Feast of Trumpets.  What could the Savior have in store for that?  How about the rapture of His church?

"And the L-RD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation."  (Leviticus 23:23-24)

"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of G-d:  and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and shall we ever be with the Lord."  (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

Are we perhaps being a little presumptuous by suggesting that the rapture could occur on the Feast of Trumpets?  Didn't Jesus say that no man knows the day?

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."  (Matthew 24:36)

Yes, but consider this.  In those days the Feast of Trumpets was known as - are you ready for this? - The Day That No Man Knows!

And, if it was the day that no man knew, then how did the people know when to celebrate it?  The priest stepped out on the southwest side of the temple and blew the shofar, the trumpet.   At that moment,  all of  G-d's people immediately stopped what they were doing and ascended to the Temple.  Israelites and non-Israelites would be working in the fields together; Israelites and non-Israelites could be gathering water together or preparing food together.  But when that trump sounded, the trump signaling The Day That No Man Knows, the Israelites immediately stopped their activities and ascended.

"Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and other left."  (Matthew 24:40-41)

And another thing.  Right after Jesus said, "But of that day and hour knoweth no man..." He followed with:

"But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and fiving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered in to the ark.  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."  (Matthew 24:37-39)

Jewish tradition holds that Noah's flood began on the Feast of Trumpets.

And just as only those in the ark were saved so shall only those in the Messiah be saved.

Will you be one of those who is saved? It's up to you.  G-d has done His part.   He gave His only begotten Son for your sin.  Jesus has done his part.  He who is without sin was sacrified for your sin, and He now offers you His cloak of righteousness.  Your part is to believe that He has done this and to receive His gift.  Still unsure?  Then please read here if you're a Jew or here if you're a non-Jew.  The information's the same, just in terms with which you might be more familiar.

By the way, we're certainly not going to be dogmatic about the rapture of the church taking place on the Feast of Trumpets, but we believe the evidence certainly points that way.

back to the feasts of G-d.
