| A Little About the Area The unincorporated community of Squaw Valley, California is located approximately 40 miles east of Fresno in the foothills of the Sierra Navada Mountain range. The foothill communities range in elevation from 1700 feet to 5000 feet. Squaw Valley enjoys a mild winter temperature averaging 55 degrees in daytime. Access to the Fresno-Clovis metropolitan area is via State Highway 180. Easy access to Kings Canyon National Park and Hume Lake.About 36 percent of the land planned for development is improved, with about 64 percent available for new growth. Each property is on it's own water well and septic system. Fire protection is provided by Mid-Valley Fire Protection District which maintains a fire station on State Highway 180. The Mountain Valley Fire Department provides volunteers and additional firefighting equipment for Squaw Valley and Dunlap. The local school district is Kings Canyon Unified. Dunlap elementary (K-8) is located in Dunlap about 10 miles east of Squaw Valley. Reedley High (9-12) is located in Reedley approx. 30 miles west of Squaw Valley. There are many local church's of different denominations. Among other local business establishments, Squaw Valley has a motel, hardware/lumber yard and a service station/mini mart. |
