Vanilla is America's Favorite Flavor

I'm always surprised when I here about vanilla being America's favorite flavor. It seems so plain contrasted with all the other ice cream flavors. I think though that's exactly why it is a favorite... for it's simplicity. Why am I talking about vanilla ice cream? That's the way I feel about the crystal King's Crown compared to the cranberry and ruby stained. Seems kind of plain, don't know why anyone would want it, yet it is stunning! I bought a crystal punch bowl and got it for a good price. All the while thinking I'd be happier once I got a ruby one to replace it. Once it was washed up and set up on my dining room table I fell in love. It is a very substantial piece of glass, heavy and crystal clear. It is just beautiful. I no longer felt the need for a ruby one to take it's place.

It wasn't long after I had gotten my set when a fellow King's Crowner wrote and asked what I thought of the crystal punch bowls. I said that they can generally be picked up for a very reasonable price, that I thought mine was stunning, and I highly recommended purchasing a crystal punch bowl. The above picture is of the set he has purchased. Looks just like mine. It looks fantastic in the picture and yet the picture doesn't do it justice. The set probably cost him 1/4 the price of a ruby one, yet gives 100% satisfaction.

What is my point? Don't pass by the crystal pieces of King's Crown. I think the accessory pieces go very well with the ruby and can be picked up quite cheaply. I don't know how many times I've seen crystal King's Crown go by on ebay without a single bid. So, don't let them pass you by. Get them cheap and let them hold a spot for a ruby piece or maybe like me you might learn the crystal is equally beautiful... the vanilla ice cream in the King's Crown world.
