Small Sugar and Toothpick picture Hello class! Today I wanted to talk about something I just recently committed to memory. I had read about it in Barret's "Popular American Ruby Stained Pattern Glass" and then forgot about it until fellow King's Crown Collector Ann reminded me. Do you think I have 2 pictures of a King's Crown toothpick above? Well, they are actually 2 entirely different pieces. The piece on the right is a toothpick measuring 2 3/4 inches high and 2 1/4 inches in diameter. The piece on the left is a miniature open sugar, 2 1/2 inches high and 2 5/8 inches in diameter. Even Barret's book says they are frequently confused with one another. So, get out your ruler and see what you have in your collection. Since I started paying attention about 2 weeks ago I've seen 3 mini sugars on ebay, so they are not too rare.
