MOD, Crisis, Jacknife, and the Dead Kings - June 19, 2005

We got there after the Dead Kings had already started. They were good. They play a really heavy rock-n-roll type thing, with shiny outfits. I wouldn't mind seeing a full set of their stuff.

So next was Jackknife. The crowd was kinda slim but they did their best to get people into it. They play pretty standard metalcore, but no pretty vocals, or trying to be too emo. So that was good. I liked them. They could be a little more original but they're fairly new.

So next up was Crisis. I've liked them for quite a while. They played a good set, even with the drunk guy getting in the way. Karen is something else. Despite her small stature, she has a lot of energy. She danced all over the stage and down on the floor, throwing her dreads (which almost went to the floor) all over the place. The other guys did a great job also. Their music changes rhythm quite a bit and can be a little hard to keep a good beat to, so I pretty much stood back and took it all in. Anyway, they were very good.

So next up was MOD. Okay, MOD plays metal and hardcore, it's cool, go check it out. They also played some SOD stuff. That wasn't the show. The show was Billy Milano. The man is crazy, but in a good way. He really worked off the crowd and we all played back. He started making fun of just about everything...people in the crowd, Michael Jackson, celebrities...actually he started picking people out of the crowd and saying who he thought they looked like...I was "the guy from system of a down", sure, at least I wasn't one of the lord of the rings guys...or leif garrett. So he must have spent half the show talking and making fun of everything. But it was really cool. I had a great time. More singers need to learn how to play a crowd like that.

So in all, I had a damn good time. Billy shook everybody's hand and I talked to a few guys from Crisis, they were very cool. I would go to see these guys again anytime.
