So I got to Ziggy's before the show was supposed to start but it already had so I only caught about half of Mnemic. They were ok. Not bad, but nothing new. The best thing about them was their stage energy. The singer (with his blonde mohawk) was running all over getting people into it, even though it seemed the crowd didn't know their songs. So after that I knew Hypocrisy was coming up so I got ready.
So eventually Hypocrisy took the stage. They started with Roswell 47, and it sounded great. Peter Tagtgren was right up there yelling it out. So Hypocrisy put on a great show. I had a very good view of Horgh (formerly of Immortal) on drums, and he was very into it.They played a good set, a mix of old and new. They ended with "Eraser" off The Arrival which souned great. I am a fan of Hypocrisy and I was very into it. So the whole time they were playing this girl behind me would scream very loud and high pitched. She also bumped into me quite often, and said sorry each time, but it was cool. After the set she kept up the screaming and sat up on her boyfriend's shoulders, and since she was almost falling out of her skimpy top, she became the entertaiment.       So while they were setting up for Dark Tranquility the guys came in from the bus and walked across the stage, that really got the excitement going. I've been waiting a long time to see Dark Tranquility and I wasn't holding back for this. So they came out and started playing it sounded awesome. Mikeal spent the majority of the time up on the guardrail singing which gave us all a good view. Having seen live video of them I knew he was a very energetic singer, but live he's just a mad man. And the crowd was so into it, which is always good. Mikeal was really feeding off that. They played a mix of songs many off the Character cd, a few off Damage Done, but one of the best was "Punish My Heaven" (a personal favorite). While he was up on the rail crowd surfers kept flying by, but he did manage to "catch" the girl from before when she came by. Dark Tranquility was awesome, everything I hoped, the only thing that could have made it better is if they played "Zodijakyl Light" but I'm not complaining.      So after that I went up to the bar and merch table. The guys from Mnemic were up there, they were cool. The tour manager (a british guy I think) was selling merchandise and he was funny one. I met a cool guy who came to the show from SC. While I was standing there I turn around and Mikeal Stanne is standing right behind me so I have to say something, right? So I said great show and how I like them and all.       So eventually Soilwork started. I have to admit I've been really into Soilwork, I mean I like them ok, but not a big fan. So they but on a good show. They played the songs I did know and like which was cool. I stayed toward the back. Well at some point I looked over and some of the guys from Dark Tranquility and Peter Tagtgren were standing over next to where I was...well I was pretty excited. Oh here's some trivia, I think I saw Peter put some chew or snuff in his lip, maybe it's that stuff they have in Europe. So at one point I saw Peter walk toward the bar, so I talked to him at the Merch table. He's very cool. I told him I liked the show and the band. I asked him to bring some of his Pain stuff out over here, and he said he needs to get a record deal for it here. So Peter's the man, check out his stuff, he's a great producer too...Anyway back to Soilwork, they did a good job. The crowd didn't seem as into is as they were for Dark Tranqility. So after the show I go back over to the bar and Hough is standing there, he's a tall guy, anyway, so I ask him, "Weren't you in Immortal" and he kinda laughs and says "Yeah!" and so I say some other stuff, but I don't think he knows english as well as the other guys, but that's still cool. So then I left.       Alright, it was a great show, first time I've got really into it in a while, and really hot and sweaty and had a lot of fun. |
