B. Background Summary:
-----------------------
Michel was born in Edmonton, Canada, from Catherine Delorme, owner of
a small 'within Sol-system' tourism business, and from an unknown father
(-"So who's your real father then?" -"Well... mom never wanted to tell
me..."). He's been raised by his mother's boyfriend since he was three.
The man used to service the small starships her mother owned and take
him along. The kid made his way up to high school while being a calm,
tidy, 'go unnoticed' kid. Although he enjoyed spending time with his
mother's boyfriend, his mother was another deal... she scared him as he
nearly never saw her except at the religously held thursday supper. The
mother, while not being a cold hearted matrix, but simply a very busy
business woman, tried to soften their tense relationship by offering him
a shabby stage piano (one of those vertical ones) and classic piano
classes. It did not improve their relationship but at least she made her
son happy and gave him a new passion.
His peaceful life quickly evolved to a slightly less peaceful life
as he entered Ross Sheppard High. He easlily made friends as he was the
only person in his grade that had his own shuttlecraft (an ol' monoplace
Mark XIII with the warp systems stripped off that his 'dad' had gotten
him from a bid with a Ferengi). He soon with his best friends (Stephen,
Lewis and Claire) went on scrounging trips at the local srapyard to find
spare parts to maintain the shuttle's barely flying state.
Time flew (but didn't quite as crash as the Mark XIII...) and high
school was soon over. Engineering Baccalaureate at Starfleet academy acted
as a magnet, he sticked to it. Starfleet academy brought new things to populate
void in his mind and his hands busy. First, the classes changed his perspective
on engineering mechanics. SFA thought hims how to do things neatly,
cleanly, and predictably. Not to confuse... his actions weren't
predictable, but now he knew wether it would explode or not. Second, was
the discovery of jazz and the Rhodes stage piano. One of his friends who
studied Terran History and Cultural Evolution, introduced him to the
moody music. Since he already had a basis for piano, he quickly took
over jazz and joined a Quintet 'The Joth Moriss Band' and enjoyed it day
and night. His knowledge of jazz spans over the 1950's to the twenty
first century, noting Bill Evans and Keith Jarret as his personal
favourites. Being distracted from his studies by jazz, he graduated
without problems nor distinctions. His last therm thesis drew an
interesting insight on the possible use of the EM field created by
plasma induction as a way to charge backup power or feed sub-auxiliary
systems (such as lighting and similar sub-critical systems) during
battle sequences.

V. Skills Profile
------------------
Michel Delorme is a career engineer. He specialized in Fusion
Engine Systems and power distribution. He has extensive knowledge of
shuttlecrafts. He has studied warp and weapons systems engineering but
never inteded to make these domains his speciality. That might change. He
is proeficient at using Type I, II, and III phasers and has been trained
for basic hand to hand combat. He is a trained shuttlecraft pilot. He is
an amateur of atmosphere craft acrobatics.
He is an experienced piano and keyboard player. He is acquainted to
Classic and Jazz styles. He is a veteran pool player.

VI. Recent Fitness Report
--------------------------
"Mister Delorme is quite a good fellow. I've rarely seen someone make
so mush out of nothig. He's one of the most versatile students I ever
had. However, he sometimes comes up with strange gadgets or tweaks that
have a horrible tendency to malfunction. Still, I think that that young
man could get a ship out of trouble anytime if he ever gets
commissioned on a ship."

Teacher, Engineering Dept., Starfleet Academy, San-Francisco

VII. Psychological Profile
---------------------------
"Cadet Michel Delorme's preliminary evaluation highlighted a very
serious and paternalistic attitude but an ability to keep distance. When
dealing with subordinates, he strict and expect everyone to concentrate
at hand. Altough, he never misses an opportunity te gratify one for his
good work. As for tense situations, he untangles them calmly and
thoughtfully. Practically, he is an attentive but strict man.
When dealing with officers of same rank, he does his best to be
polite and respectful. He seems posess some quite strict opinions but
only on certain subjects, ironically, very serious ones. We would be
mentionning, the Prime Directive, First Contact policies and respect of
the Chain Of Command. The opinions could arise conflict where he could
feel personally offended.
When dealing with officers of higher ranking, he obviously is not at
ease. He voices only his opinion when explicitely asked and limits
communication to the very essential. Starbases seem have a similar
effect on him. This will obviously cause him problems. In that same line
of thought, he voiced a clear disgust for officers caring more about
their career than the duty of which they were entrusted.
Further evaluation also revealed a hidden liking for fun. When on
leave, it obviously is not as hidden but he seems to like to add a
certain casuality to work when alone of acquainted enough with his co-workers.
The latter seems to take a very long time. When he does lighten the
strictness of his work situation, especially when working with others,
he often considers it carelessness and tries his best to keep it from
happening again. Somewhat like a lack of discipline he tries to control.
According to Space Warfare Officer School's standards, he is fit for
duty."

Counselor, Space Warfare Officer School

VIII. ALB Final Test Commentary
--------------------------------------
"Ensign Delorme has a strong duty to Starfleet protocol and
Federation
law that will hold him in good stead in his future roles. He is
resourceful and uses his engineering skill to great effect when needed.
However, his rigid devotion to protocol may not endear him to more
seasoned officers. Nevertheless his calm manner is a useful quality
that will prove invaluable in tight situations."

Haydn Lara
