Map InfoAn egyptian themed Unreal Tournament 2004 Deathmatch map. ScreenshotsDownloadDeveloper NotesThis is my first completed map on the Unreal engine. I've been designing levels for the Half-Life engine for over 3 years now, and over the past year and a half I have achieved precisely NOTHING. This level gave me a good chance to break away from the themes I'd previously done, and do things that I couldn't do with the Half-Life engine. With this new found freedom, I managed to slap this level together and release the first version within 48 hours :). Roll on a few days of general tweaking and gameplay adjusting... This map was created for my first assignment as part of the Level Design 101 course on masteringunreal.com, and from the start was designed to have fantastic gameplay. I hardly strayed from my initial plan for the layout of the map, and only adjusted it due to size constraints. Within an hour of opening the editor, I had my brushwork for the most part completed. It took me some time over the next 2 days to get the texturing, lighting and detailing completed. I was mainly dragged back in this part due to my lack of knowledge with the Unreal engine. I researched several topics, but tried not to go into any detail so that I didn't get ahead of the level design course. Skyboxes and bot pathing were the main topics I researched. |
