Races of Fangea
These are races created just for the world of Fangea, and do not appear in any previously published book.
Island Elf
This humanoid is slender and as tall as a human, being taller than other elves. It has brown skin, ranging from a nut brown to a deep mahogany color. It tends to have light blonde to silver or platinum hair, though some have been known to have black hair. It has sea green or sky blue eyes, but can sometimes be seen with icy, pale color eyes. As with most elves, its ears are pointed, though slightly larger and more so than with other elves.
Island Elves are sometimes known by their individual tribal names. While their personalities vary from island and environment, all are uncomfortable with other races. This discomfort, and often mistrust, of other races, comes from the isolation they are often forced to endure. Their experience with the other common races is minimal, though there are almost always those among the tribes who have at least minimal experience with other common races.
Island elves can most commonly be seen wielding spears and short bows in combat, as they use these weapons for hunting and fishing as well. Those trained martially will often use rapiers and other lighter weight blades, due to the nature of their lifestyles and the limitation of resources.
Island Elves are strong willed, and despite the need to be physically fit, they tend to be highly spiritual and trained in the various magical arts, including the arcane, divine and psionic. As such, Priests, Sorcerers and Psions are common. Wizards are rare, since reading and writing are not commonplace on islands, and books tend not to hold up well. Occasionally wizards can be found who possess heirloom spell books, handed down through the family over time. Familiars for spell casters tend to be exotic creatures native to the islands, such as snakes, monkeys, parrots, lemurs and bats. Warrior classes range from Fighters and Rangers to Barbarians. The lack of heavy armor and rarity of horses on many islands make Paladins and traditional knight-like fighters unheard of. Bards are also rare, existing only among the rare Elders who keep lore, or the younger adventuresome types, who tend to leave their islands, seldom to return. Rogues occur in all societies.
