Website Subjects

Welcome to my homepage. I have spent many months of research in order to get the sites together. I spent many hours at the Mitchell Reference Library in Glasgow, United Kingdom, getting information for the sites. I have also produced a Bibliography page, explaining the names of the titles and authors with links to the corresponding sites.

1. Excerpts that were interesting were photocopied and, then scanned the pages through an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) program. The resulting text was then tidied, taking away extra characters, correcting mis-spelt words.

2. Pictures were scanned from the books were scanned using a library PC that, strangely enough, has a scanning machine. All this digital data was then emailed so that they can be used at home so that the sites can be built; this was also because of another lack of technology then: flash drives. Putting the data onto a flash drive is much less time consuming than emailing them because of the time it takes to upload it, especially when I only have a certain amount of time in which to perform these scans.

3. For the personal website, a different method was used. Analogue photographs were taken of buildings and places that were relevant. At this point only basic computer knowledge was used to build the sites, and digital photography was one aspect that wasn't used. The paper photographs were scanned just like the ones for the subject sites.

Another aspect of computer technology that was unheard of then was the even the most basic mobile telephone with which photographs can be taken, play MP3 files, and the use of Bluetooth technology.

4. Whilst at home, audio messages were made using "Talkany" and recording them with "Goldwave", but for the personal site, a personal message was made by the author.

5. Video clips from You-Tube had been embedded into certain parts of the websites. This was done by copying and pasting HTML code from You-Tube into the code for the websites.

For this very interesting project, the "author" of the website has included the subjects which are listed below.

Below are the subjects I have chosen:

1. Northern Ireland

Peace Campaigners Mairead Corrigan and Betty Williams.

2. The motor Vehicle

Rover P6 (1970 - 76)

3. The Human Body

4. About myself

House no. 2 (1977 - 87)

5. American Assassinations

President Kennedy

I have also added more fonts to my websites so that I can make them look more attractive. The fonts may not be available on other computers, so I have included downloading buttons for each extra font so that clients can get these fonts. Once downloaded put them in your "Fonts" folder in the Windows folder in the hard drive.

When you visit the website about my life, you will find that I have talked about my life up until 2010 and from 2011, I continued about my personal events in the form of a blog. In this blog, I mentioned the importance of education and building demolitions, especially from my resident city of Glasgow. Please click here if you want to see this blog. I have another link to this blog in my life from 2006 to 2010.
