This is the start of my on board air system...air is always handy!! I started with a used military surplus air tank-no idea what it came from, found it in a scrap yard $5 and it's aluminum!! Put it in the glass bead cabinet, then gave it a shot of International engine gray, replaced all the brass fittings and pressure tested for one week.
Here is a shot of the tank mounted between the outboard edge of the passenger side and the frame rail. The 3/8" hose goes to my train horns. This tank is plenty to get two good blasts from the horns.
The feed line is 1/4" , the compressor is a Viair 400H which I mounted in the bed between the toolbox and edge of the bed. I plan to replace the petcock valve with a solenoid valve (credit for this idea goes to rlarkin). The solenoid valve will allow draining water from the tanks from inside the cab! I mounted my train horns on the drivers side under the bed right about where the fuel hoses are. They are so damn big that was the only place I could find to put them! I have also added another 5 gallons of air capacity. More photos as soon as I can get my darn digital camera to work again.
