| On September 19, 2002, John, Kristin, and their daughter, Nicole, moved from Minnesota to Kingcome Inlet, British Columbia. They relocated to volunteer with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) for two years with the Tsawataineuk band. On June 26, 2003, 9 months later, they left Kingcome to move back to the United States.
