Portofino Golf Course in the Hunter Valley, NSW was the venue for the Bondie Invitational 1999.  A strong field was drawn together to honour Richard's final hours as a single guy before his plunge into wedded bliss.

Portofino is a new resort style course in NSWs Hunter Valley, plenty of water to get into trouble and its fair share of vineyards too!!

The first hole is a 300 metre Par 4 requiring a solid drive with a 120 metre water carry, Mike made it Steve didnt!.  Mike took a 2 shot lead into the 2nd hole but Da Costa then hit form playing the next holes birdie, par, birdie, par, bogey, bogey, bogey, par to finish with an outward 40!!  Highlight was a solid tee shot into the 150 metres Par 3 4th followed by a "Circus Girl Deluxe"!!  A long long putt into the hole for a birdie.  Mike was a spectator left shell shocked, 9 shots off the pace after 9 holes.

  Pars on 10 and 11 bought some respectability to Mikes score and the hint of a possible comeback.  Steve was still firing and missed an eagle chance on the 14th.  A mistimed shot on 18th one of the only blemishes on Steves scorecard as he carded a 7 to finish with an 84.  Mike made some ground on the back nine but still finished 6 shots behind.  A strong victory for Steve on the King tour.
