South Florida Mole Kingsnake
Lampropeltis Calligaster Occipitolineata
COLORATION: Tan or grey ground color, with brown to brownish red blotches down it's back. Has a higher blotch count than a normal Mole Kingsnake (about 60-79). Adults don't fade as much as with a normal Mole Kingsnake either. They usually have dark lines down the back of the head or over the eyes.
RANGE: Only known in southern Florida.
NATURAL HABITAT: Woodlands, and feilds. Known to be a burrowing snake rarely seen before night.
SIZE AND LONGITIVITY: Grows to about the same size as a Mole Kingsnake, around 36-42 inches. This specie was first described in 1987, so it's full life span isn't known.
NATURAL PREY: Small mammals, lizards, amphibians, and snakes.
