The comic strip "Wooley" follows the lives of Wooley, Wes Webber (aka Webb) and his father Hal, as well as an assortment of supporting characters. It is an exploration of the inner workings of the single-parent family. "Wooley" is one of few comic strips dealing with the growing trend of single-parent families. As well, it hosts another rarity - a person with a disability. We also discover the trials and tribulations of one person's (sheep's) quest to fit in with a strange society and unfamiliar customs.
Wooley is very impulsive. He also has an addiction to television and is often corrupted by commercials or television shows. He normally abhors earth women but he can't resist the allure of women's tennis. His decision making abilities are also flawed. He quite often makes the wrong (but humourous) decisions. His best qualities are his loyalty and ability to make friends quite quickly.
Webb (aka Wes Webber) is a 14-year-old high school student who doesn't have a lot of friends. Webb is still struggling with the loss of his mother - who left when Webb was only 8-years-old. As a result, Webb uses the goofy superhero costume he wears as a way to cope with the pain and uncertainty he feels. I don't doubt he will eventually outgrow it. He is a very friendly, smart but hopeless when it comes to women and lacks confidence when he is not wearing his hero tights.
Hal Webber is blind but a very busy man and a great inspiration to Webb... and Wooley. He is a local businessman and he raises Webb in a strict but loving manner, by himself. Hal has a great sense of humour once you get past his gruff exterior. He is prone to quirky behaviour when he thinks no one else is around. In his spare time Hal loves to make wine and build furniture.

These Wooleys don't really fit into the current direction we have chosen to take Wooley, Webb and Hal. Many of the situations seen in these strips will be reworked into the current strip but we have done away with Wooley being an alien sheep and Webb having geeky superhero friends. Despite the changes these early "Wooleys" are still good for a laugh!
