Eliza (Lawver) Hill is believed to have been born around 1815 in Ireland, although Pennsylvania was her birthplace as given on the death record for her daughter, Margaret (Hill) Henthorn. She came from Ohio to live at Crawford County Wisconsin in 1867 after her husband Daniel died, following her brothers who had migrated in earlier years. On the 1870 census, Eliza was recorded as living with her children, Rezin (Reason M.), Daniel Jr., William Henry, Nancy Anne, and John A. Children not listed in that household were Joseph Wolf, Mary E., Margaret, Elzey, and James Marvin, all of whom were probably married and in their own homes by that time.
Eliza Hill was on a list of Pensioned Widows at Soldiers Grove in 1884. This was the last trace of her to be found by me. Her date of death and burial place are unknown, as no grave marker has been found for her at any of the cemeteries in the Soldiers Grove area, where she lived, although her date of death is estimated to be about 1855.
