The Mitten

Station Activities:

-Writing:  Write about your favorite animal from the mitten.

-Math:  Fill real mittens with unifix cubes then count how many fit inside. Challenge find half of that number.

-Creation:  Design your own mittens from a blank pattern.

-Science:  Graph your favorite(Mittens or Gloves)  Trace and cut an open hand for gloves or a closed finger hand for mittens and add to graph with your name.

-Pocket Chart:  This is a red mitten.  This is a blue mitten. etc.  Students read with a mitten on their hand and manipulate paper mittens according to color on the correct line.

-Flannel Board:  A fur story hand is used to retell the story.  I laminated the characters and they have velcro to attach them to the story hand.

-Reading:  Word sorting (m words and double t words)

-Publishing:  Make page for class book "The Boot"
