This is a special morning gathering at our rug. Students complete math jobs related to the calendar. We learn the days of the week and months of the year songs. Students gradually learn about money, number recognition, place value, patterns, etc. All of these concepts are taught through meaningful experiences. We count, record, and tally the number of days of school. Each 10th day is celebrated with our Zero the Hero puppet and a special number related treat. This leads up to the 100th day of school celebration.(Jan.23) Each child will make a shirt to wear this day with 100 thumbprints on it. We will begin 10 days early adding 10 thumbprints per day. Students should bring a plain white t-shirt to school by Dec.15. This can be any old white shirt. It is not necessary to buy one.
