Learning stations are created to maximize individualized instruction. Students move to the following stations throughout the morning completing tasks at each learning station area. Brain research indicates that this approach to learning is optimal for success.
Mrs. King's Station: students work with the teacher in small groups or individually on guided reading activities, literacy lessons, assessment, running reading records, portfolios and reteachings.
Writing Station: journals and literature extensions
Reading Station: pocket books, free reading, partner reading, pocket charts
Listening Station: books on tape, response sheets
Creation
Station: guided and
choice art projects related to daily read aloud story
Science Station: observations, FOSS science kit activities, Thematic Science, etc.
Publishing Station: book dictation for publishing, class created books
Computer Station: Reading/Math CD rom learning games, internet projects, etc.
Alphabet
Station: letter
stamps, making words, fine motor, sorting, visual discrimination, etc.
Pocket Chart Station: sequencing, rhyming words, patterns, etc.
Poetry Station: masking words, reading, illustrate poem of the week, etc.
