The guessing box is our version of show and tell. Each day a student returns the box to school with an item from home placed inside. The student reads 3 clues to the class. They try to guess what is inside the box. Finally, the student shares what he/she brought. We rotate the box continuously through the class list. Each child will have the opportunity to bring the box home several times.
This program is excellent for oral language development, science skills, and social development. Students enjoy the "mystery" of the box and it limits show and tell to one student per day. This valuable activity fits nicely into our busy schedule.
