Kindergarten Program Overview
We think that learning is
just yummy!
    We believe that a positive kindergarten experience is a vital part of every successful child's educational background.  This experience gives a child the foundation for learning that will stay with him/her throughout a lifetime.  We believe that all children can learn, and we strive daily to create an atmosphere that encourages our students to take risks.  We know that children learn through exploring their environment.  We understand the need for children to work in a variety of situations to maximize learning.  We utilize music, movement, and creative play in our classrooms on a regular basis.  We provide opportunities for our students to work independently and with their peers, as well as one-on-one with the teacher.
     We recognize and understand the importance of parent involvement in our kindergarten program.  You will find parents volunteering in our classrooms on a regular basis, as well as helping with special events.  We know how much a good home-school relationship can impact student learning.  We view our relationship with families as that of a team, working toward one common goal; educating each child. 
     We feel that it is our professional responsibility as educators to welcome student teachers and members of the collegiate community into our classrooms.  These people learn as much from our students, and us, as we learn from them.  Together, we can bring some of the newest strategies and ideas for teaching into our classrooms and to our students. 
     It is our goal for all of our students to develop a love for school and become life-long learners.  We teach our students the skills and strategies they need to become positive, contributing members of society.
