Teacher Web Design Tips:

Back in the summer of 2003, I taught myself everything I needed to know to design my own classroom website. After a lot of trial-and-error, I now know a lot about web design and maintenance! Here are a few things I would like to share with those of you who are ready to try and build your own website.

Getting Started

First, you have to find a host that will fit your sites' needs. A host is a company that places your site on the WWW (world wide web). Here are a few good ones:

Yahoo! Geocities(free) - this is what I use
Bravenet
Dreamhost
Homepage Now

Where can I get graphics?

There are many free and purchase graphics on the web. You can always doa search on yahoo, or you can visit some of the links below. Always rememer to GIVE credit!!

Cute Colors
Rajiv's Graphics
Cottontail Graphics
Baers Garten Graphics
Golden Graphic Designs
Whimsy Graphics
Thistle Girl Designs

Where can I go to learn HTML?

The very best site & ONLY site I used to assist me in learning the HTML codes is Lissa Explains. After learning codes, it takes some trial and error. It also takes a lot of PATIENCE!

Where can I get cool effects?

Some websites have cool effects such as fade-in and -out pages, music, and special navigation features. The best and easiest place to find these codes is Dynamic Drive.
