| When the baby finished feeding, Tasha pulled her hospital gown back up. Sighing, she gazed lovingly down at her sleeping son. He had Russ's cleft chin and cupid bow lips. In fact, his adorable little face was a near replica of Russell. She wondered what part of herself she had passed on to him. She knew that brown eyes were the dominant gene and he was very likely to have them after his eyes changed. She couldnt help but hope that he had picked up Russell's eye color, as she loved her husbands ever-changing green eyes. The baby hiccuped, grunting just a little in his peaceful sleep. He was like an angel, complete with a perfect little cherub's face. Russell had stepped out of the room to retrieve his family and Tasha waited, eager for them to see the new addition. Within moments, she heard a gaggle of voices outside the door. She looked up just in time to see her sisters face framed in the doorway. Tasha's mouth dropped, shock covering her face and Emily said "I dont look that bad, do I???" Smiling, she stepped into the cozy little room. Tasha, barely recovered from her surprise, laughed heartily, saying "Of course not sis! How in the world did you get here though??" Emily grinned at her and said, with a humorous sarcastic edge to her voice, "Well, there's this thing...it's called a plane. They take you up in the air, rock you around a little bit and when you get out of the thing you are on another continent!" She laughed. She stepped closer, leaning over to Tasha to place a quick kiss on her cheek. "So how are you doing, Tash? Feeling okay?" When Tasha nodded, Emily glanced down at Alexander. Oh my...Tash...he is beautiful!" Emily's bright face grew soft as she gazed at the baby. About that time, Russell and his family came through the door. Tasha grinned and raised her eyebrows at him. He gave her one of those "I dont know what you are talking about" looks to which she angled her head as if to say, "Yeah, right." She was delighted that he had somehow managed to get her sister here and she had a feeling that this was not the last surprise he was going to spring on her. The entire family, Chelsea included as this was her father's week with her, fussed and coo'd over Alexander. His mother cried openly and Tasha thought she even noticed a few tears in his father's eyes. The family practically filled the room with flowers, they had brought so many. Everywhere she looked now she saw carnations and baby's breath that filled the room with a faint, pleasant scent. She turned to Russ as he sat down beside of her. Grinning, she said, "It's about time that you held your son for a while isnt it?" He grinned back at her, jumping up as though he'd just been told the place was on fire, to take the baby. She rested as they all gathered around Russ, closing her eyes for what she thought would be a few moments. When she awakened, the room was empty of everyone except for Russ. He was sitting quietly by her side, holding her hand. The baby was nowhere to be seen. He could see the startled question in her eyes and murmured, "The nurses took him back to the newborn room for now. I wanted to let you rest, love. You must be exhausted. How do you feel, love?" She smiled at him, relaxing. "I feel fine. Very tired, but very happy. I'm pretty lucky that everything went so well, it could have been a great deal worse. Although it was bad enough, dont get me wrong." She laughed softly. Russ leaned over to her, covering her face in gentle kisses. It was one of the few times she was literally so exhausted that she felt no excitement at his mouth, only a deep and abiding sense of love for him. He shifted his mouth to her ear, where he whispered, "I have something for you." She raised an eyebrow at him, waiting patiently to see what it was that he had. He reached back and pulled a long box out of his back pocket. It was obvious it was some sort of jewelry. He pressed it into her hand, smiling enigmatically. She glanced down at the box, a shiny gold in color and tied with a sheer ribbon. Reaching for the ribbon, she untied it slowly. Lifting the lid off, a delicate gold necklace was revealed. There was a smooth pendant in the shape of an oval, a white gold with the profile of a mother holding a child etched into it. She gasped, raising her tear-filled eyes to Russ. He grinned again, saying "I've wanted to give this to you since you first told me you were pregnant. I've had to bite my tongue a few times, which as you know is hard for me to do!" Tasha laughed as Russell took the elegant necklace out, placing it around her neck. She leaned forward just a little to allow him to fasten, fingering the pendant as she felt his tender hands clasp the necklace togather. She reached one hand up to his face, pulling him down to her. Seeking his mouth with hers, their lips met intensely as the tears rolled down her face. He grasped her face, burying his hands in her hair. Drawing his lips across hers, his tongue sought entry to her mouth. When the kiss ended, both were breathless. He cupped her face with one hand while his other hand played with a strand of her hair. She grimaced, knowing that it was probably a tangled mess. He seemed to sense this, grinning at her and releasing her face. Crossing the room, he whipped a brush out of her clothes-bag. "I know just what you want!" He said, knowing how particular she was about having smooth hair. Returning to her, he said, "Sit up and I will brush it for you, love." She smiled, sitting up and turning her head to the other side of the room so he could work the brush through her hair. He gently undid the barrette that was holding it off of her face, laying it on the night table beside of the bed. Slowly, he eased brush from root to end, trying not to pull too hard.. Quite a process considering her hair reached her hips. When her hair was sufficiently smooth, he lifted it off of her neck. Pressing his warm lips to the curves that sloped downward, he felt her shiver. Knowing that they would not be able to be intimate for another few weeks. It would be even harder for him, considering that if he touched her breasts very much there was a good chance that they would leak milk. It was going to be very hard for him to avoid this, but he figured the first time he got squirted in the face it would remind him. He laughed to himself, thinking about what a hilarious mental image that gave him. When Tasha turned her head questioningly, he shared his thought with her. They laughed togather, with Tasha teasing him the fact that he was going to get squirted in the face quite a bit seeing as how he could hardly keep his hands off her breasts. Just to tease her back, he reached around and fingered one swollen nipple. She giggled and swatted his hand away, telling him to bugger off and leave her tits alone. He giggled himself, pretending he was going to get up and leave the room. She wrapped her hand around his arm, pulling him back down to her. Again, she pressed her lips to his and again they kissed until breathless. He burned kisses down her throat, having to physically pull himself off of her. She lay back, dazed and surprised. Gazing at him, she said, "Arent new mother's supposed to experience some sort of lessening of their sex drive? That must not be true because if I were able you'd be here in this bed with me right now!" He grinned, eyes blurred with longing. "Well," he said, his deep voice pulsing with amusement. "We'll just have to wait, you know. How long did the doctor say? Ah, 6 weeks or so I believe. Isnt that what she said?" Tasha nodded, wondering how she was going to get through the next few weeks with this delectable morsel of a husband in her bed every night. She sighed. He took her hand, squeezing it between his. "No worries, love. We'll make it through." He soothed, as he looked at his wife's tired face. "Here, you sleep now. I'll be right here beside you." Her eyes snapped open. "Where in the world are you going to sleep, Russ?" she inquired. He grinned, shifting his eyes from the plush chair he was sitting in back to Tasha. She gave him an exasperated look. "Tell me you are not going to sleep in that chair! No, Russ. No! You need your rest too!" He raised his eyebrow, grinned and told her to go to sleep. Shaking her head, she laughed and muttered to herself. She lay her head back on the pillow and wthin moments she was sleeping soundly. |
