| The day dawned perfect in every way. The glorious sunrise gave way to a spectacular dawn. It was their wedding day. She gazed out upon the spectacular Italian vista, the azure sky blinding her for a moment. Russ was with his family, in order to be perfect to the last detail, since the bride and groom were not allowed to see each other before the wedding. Her sister Emily and her friend Kristen would be up soon, and would begin preparing her for the wedding. They would have the primary task of helping oversee getting her ready for the ceremony. She felt so lucky to have those whom she loved here with her on this important day. She was eager and anxious to formalize this journey which began over a year ago with a man she adored. She had to admit, she was also a bit frightened. It wasn't Russ. She could never be afraid of him. It was the life she would be leading after they were married. The parties, the movies, that entire aspect of his life frightened her a little. After a year of dating him, and the public feeling free to delve into their private life, she was a little apprehensive of whether or not it would ever get any easier. But she was willing to try to live with it, for him. Of course he was not perfect. But he was more than enough to make her fall head over heels in love with him. She loved his family, and they loved her. Her family was smitten with him. What girl could ask for more? Here she was, looking out on this beautiful scene and counting her blessings. She was so thankful for everything and she vowed to live out the rest of her life counting her blessings. She heard a light knock on her door and opened it to find her sister standing there with a fishy grin on her face. Emily said, "I was afraid I would have to wake you up and I remembered how grouchy you use to be in the morning so I was a little apprehensive.." Tasha laughed and hugged Emily. "I'm still grouchy - on any other day but today!" They both giggled at that, with Emily stepping inside and gently shoving Tasha toward the bathroom door. She said, "Well get your grouchy ass into that shower and clean yourself up so I can do my job!" Brimming over with giggles, Tasha headed in to take a shower so Emily could wake Kristen and they could begin working on the hair and makeup. When Tasha emerged the full misty sunlight was filling the room as Emily and Kristen bustled about with various trays, vials and tubes. The dresses were hanging up on the canopy of the bed, to be put on only after makeup was applied and hair was finished. They were about to begin making her natural beauty shine when Tasha's parents joined them in the room. They went over a list of final preparations with Tasha while she was being made over. Their primary task was overseeing the decorations with Russell's parents doing the catering. They informed her the florists were decorating the large antechamber as it had been planned. It was coming along most lovely from what they told her, but there was so much to worry over. They had brought her some food - biscuits and sausage - but she had no appetite for them. After taking a few cursory bites, she pushed the food aside. After drying her hair, they arranged it with a lovely sheer ribbon woven around the crown of her head. With smooth strands curling on the top, she appeared as if she were adorned with many small halos. She had chosen a simple, sleeveless dress. The entire gown was satin and the skirt was covered with an overlayer of the same sheer wrapping that was woven into her hair. As simple as it was, it would add to her angelic appearance to make her appear as though she had just stepped off of a cloud. Since the wedding wasnt until dusk they were in no hurry to dress and sat in pleasant conversation. Russ's parents came by to check in on her and they regaled her with amusing tales of how nervous her husband-to-be was. His brother was the best man and had played the typical "I forgot the ring" joke upon him which was a bad idea considering Russell's temperament. He had nearly punched Terry before his brother had admitted it was a joke. There were other incidents, as well, with Russell tearing a sleeve on his tuxedo trying it on the previous night. The tailor had resewn it this morning with Russell grumbling the whole time. They had also brought Chelsea - her flower girl. She shyly clasped Tasha's hand as Tasha smiled at her. "Her dress is hanging on the canopy. We'll get her ready." Tasha smiled at his parents. Smiles were in abundance this day. Chelsea asked Tasha, "Aunt Tasha, are you nervous? Uncle Russ really loves you. I was just wondering if you were nervous like he is?" Tasha laughed and replied, "I am, you just cant tell. But I love your uncle very very much and I'm not nervous about marrying him. I'm more nervous about the wedding itself. I just want everything to go smoothly. Now, let's see about getting you ready darling." They spent the rest of the afternoon in much laughter as they put the finishing touches on their makeup and dressed. The satin garter was placed on Tasha's leg and soon Tasha's parents came to say all was ready. Tasha's father took her arm and suddenly she felt like a small child again confronting a big world while grasping onto her father. He smiled tenderly at her with tears in his eyes as he kissed her on the cheek. The other ladies took their places and Chelsea stuck near to Tasha. She was to go out just before the bride and it was obvious she was nervous. They had practiced the previous night, but as a reassurance Tasha whispered some comforting words in Chelsea's ear and in those words she found comfort for herself as well. Then the music sounded and she stopped thinking altogather. |
