That morning he woke up, and kissed Tasha to wake her up. She yawned sleepily and poked him in the ribs.
"Thank you very much. I was having a nice dream!"
He pouted and said, "I thought I was better than any silly dream!"
Tasha grinned and replied, "My sullen darling, need I stroke your ego this early in the morning? Look, the sun is barely in the sky!" She laughed.
He grinned and said, "So are you ready to get up yet or not?" His exhuberance was contagious and although she groaned she dragged herself out of the bed.
"A whole wide world of stars" Chapter 12 continued
"I think God put you on this earth to torture me!" She said, giggling. That made him laugh, but he directed her to the shower. "Clean up woman, I expect you in the kitchen in 30 minutes!" He laughed.

She showered, dressed and fussed with her hair for a bit before emerging. Sauntering into the kitchen, she smelled the wonderful scent of coffee in the pot and food on the table. His family was sitting around the table, and Russell was standing by the door talking to someone she assumed was his brother.

His parents voiced greetings to her, and his dad hopped up to pull out a chair for her. His mum poured her a cup of coffee and sat it in front of her along with cream and sugar. Russell joined them and with a quick kiss for her sat beside her at the table.

He introduced his brother Terry with a grin. They exchanged greetings and the family set down to eating. They talked and laughed with each other over things that had happened on the farm. Tasha listened for the most part trying to learn each personality. She was truly enjoying the interaction between them when Russell said, "Mum, Tasha and I are going out to the stream tonight. We were wondering if you would fix some food for us to take along?"

His mom agreed and Tasha thought the family look happy - unusually happy. Like they had their hands in the cookie jar happy. She had no time to ponder this, however, as Russ ushered her into the living room and insisted she watch TV for a bit. He told her he would be back about an hour before sunset and to be ready to go. She nodded and kissed him before settling herself down on the couch. She again spent the day talking with his mum and watching bits of TV here and there.

When dusk was drawing near Russ came back to the house and showered up. He came into the living room smelling wonderful and she stood to walk to him. He met her before she could take a single step, and swept her up into his arms. Without a word, he carried her out the door and placed her in the SUV.

With a basket of food in her arms, Joceyln came out of the house smiling. She told them both to be careful in the bush, and hugged them.
Russ hopped in and they took off down a winding dirt road. She was dimly aware of undertones of anxiousness on his part, and wondered what he had to be anxious about.

They conversed about small things before arriving at a small cabin. He confirmed to her that this was indeed where he usually stayed while he was here and he helped her out of the SUV. She entered the small cabin to find it fragrant with incense. She turned to him with a question in her eyes.

"Yes," he said before she could ask. "I came here earlier today to get everything ready!"

They laughed togather, and she surveyed her surroundings. 'Nicely furnished,' she thought. 'Albeit a bit Spartan.'

While she was thinking this, Russell was lighting what seemed to be fifty or so candles in various places throughout the living room. There was a small fireplace along the far wall, and he lit it as well. Soon, she was standing in the middle of a room full of twinkling lights. She heard the soft sounds of music in the background as Russ turned on the CD player in the corner.

Heavenly smells were overwhelming her, and as Russ stepped to her he placed a fingertip on her mouth. "Will you dance with me, fair sheila?"

Nodding her assent, he took her hand in his and pulled her to him. Knowing they could not make love, he kept himself from thinking of how soft and supple she felt in his arms. Leaning his head toward hers, they began a slow waltz.

Staring up into his shining green eyes, all she could think was how she felt like he was an extension of her very own self. Wave after wave of tenderness washed over her. She hoped that he could see the love she felt for him blazing forth from her own eyes.

His lips touched hers lightly, and she tingled from head to toes. Starting gently with her upper lip and moving to her lower lip, she was again amazed that he could arouse the highest pitched desire in her body with the lightest touch. Both of them knew that they would be resisting temptation this night, however, and soon he pulled his mouth away from hers.

With their bodies swaying to the soft sounds of the music, she lay her head against his chest. Feeling as though the entire world was moving beneath her feet, she listened to the sound of his heartbeat, so strong against her face. She drifted away from reality in his arms.

Caught up in the sheen of the candlelight, he looked down at her face lying against his chest. Her ethereal beauty never failed to create an aching longing within his very soul. The stray wisps of blonde hair framed her face, making her seem a very angel. His angel, brought down from heaven especially for him. He suddenly realized that he had never been so nervous in his entire life.

After a few moments, he pulled back knowing that it was now or never. He had the ring in his back pocket, but he felt the need to compose himself for a moment before asking the most important question of his life.
"Love," he said quietly. "There is something I need to get from the SUV. I promise I will be right back."
She arched a brow at him, but said "Hurry back Studmuffin. It will get lonely in here without you." He grinned at her, and went outside to retrieve whatever it was that he had left in the SUV.

He walked outside into the cooling night air and took a few deep breaths to calm down. His stomach felt as though it were twisting itself into knots. He took the ring out of his back pocket, and shined it up on his flannie. Staring at it as if it could lend him it's strength, he turned back toward the door.

She had wandered over to the fireplace and was staring into the crackling fire. She heard the door open, and turned to him with a smile. He walked towad her holding his finger over his lips in the age-old silence gesture. Some part of her mind noticed that the other hand was still behind his back.

As she took this in, he stopped in front of her and sank down to one knee. Taking her hand, he looked up at her with his face radiating emotions that made her breath catch in her throat.

In a shaky voice, he said "Tasha, I never met a woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, until I met you." He paused, clearing his throat and continued, "What I'm trying to say is...Will you marry me?" He held the ring up to her.

Her mouth was dry, and she felt dizzy with joy. She must not have even smiled, because he seemed to grip her hand tighter. She smiled radiantly, and with tears in her eyes she said, "Yes, I will marry you Russell. Nothing would give me greater joy than being your wife."
