Issue #2 | February 1st, 2005
It's been awhile since the last issue was out, and I thought it was time for a new one. Hence, Issue two! I've come to the conclusion that for First Age to floursh once again, these three most important things need to be done: 1. There must be more attention given toward nurturing the young. This means NO sadistic killing and stripping. Playing roles of evil and good are fair game, and even some minor stripping is fine as long as there is meaning and lesson in your actions. 2. As there is such a large gap currently between the young and old, special care needs to be taken by all seasoned players. The pointless killing of those so inferior to yourself needs to stop. There is no gain in stomping on an ant! What we need to do instead is help them grow up until they become the medium between ourselves and the continuing flow of new blood. 3. Mercinae must become stronger to bring balance back in the realm. Thakria at the moment is the dominant power in the land. It sickens me that since the tables have turned, Mercineans have done nothing to fight back.. However, it is sadly necessary for Mercinae to grow again since that is where the young are naturally best taken care of. Actually accomplishing these things is clearly the problem First Age faces today... The only other option I see if these three things can't be done is for First Age to become a free game again until the time for bait and switch comes. However, even if that happened Firstagers would still have to change some of their philosophies, else history would simply repeat itself over again. When preparing your pipes for a good ole smoke, typing "FILL PIPE WITH (HERB)" instead of "[PUT,PLACE,INSERT,ETC] (HERB) IN PIPE" will give you two extra drags.
In my young days, when people dwelled on the terms "sadistic killing" and "stripping", they immediately thought of Zerax. In today's age, that person is without a doubt, Cabe.. Interview conducted on the 29th day of Leaflost, 944 years since the Divine War in the Smoky Front Room of the Thakrian Crescent Inn. (location) First off, thanks for doing the interview Can you tell us where your from? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I'm from Ladner, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver, on the west coast of Canada!". Ahh, your one of them. Smile. How exactly did you come across Avalon? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Well, I had a friend, Shadowmeld, who was my best friend in real life, who showed it to me, he later became known as Shakrius". Ahh. Erebus is a friend in real life as well? Did you get him started playing? Bloodthirsty Cabe nods his head emphatically. Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I showed it to him, he didn't like it at first, he's more of a jock, but he got started on it". Is this the first mud you have played then? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Yep". Ever dabbled in any others MUDs since you started Avalon? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I've tried a few, Legends, Akbar or something, Achea, they all pale in comparison though, currently Shakrius plays a mud called Discworld, it was quite fun except it is so vast there is a 6-second lag spike after each command". That wouldn't be worth it at all. What is it about Firstage, that drives you to keep playing, what makes you come back here time and time again? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Addiction". Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I have no ****ing clue, I just come here to have some fun, this is like Space Invaders but on a whole different level". I guess we all have different thoughts on the matter.. If you could pick one person in Avalon to meet in real life, who would it be? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "My patron, Lord Thanatos, I'm sure he has a completely opposite personality as shown here". Speaking of, why is it you choose Thanatos to be your patron, or rather why do you think he choose you? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Well, he just seemed the right divinity". *Takes time to consider* Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "His ideals didn't completely suit my own, only one divinity's does, and that would be Lady Circe. And I'm sure if she returned I would have MANY second thoughts, not saying I'd up and quit the order, but it's something I would discuss a LOT". I see.. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you in real life? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "15, prior to popular belief, I am NOT 10". And you started when? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "When I was around 12-13". I started around the same age, a little older though.. What changes in your life have you seen since playing Avalon? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Many, my grades have slipped quite a bit, I'm failing a lot of stuff, but that might also be because I started playing this when I got into highschool, and girls have also been a huge factor that have distracted me". Yet you continue to play.. Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "It's a lesser cocaine. I'm sure I'd go into withdrawals without it though". Who do you think is the best player to ever walk this land? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Can I answer, myself?". You can. Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Well I'd be lying then". Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Hmm, that's really a tough one". Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I think one of the best I have met is Ategenos, that's just my opinion though". There are of course, many ways to judge a person's skills.. Moving onto more personal subjects, a lot of people hate you. Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I realize that". All the talk about stripping, killing, whats your reaction to that? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "This Realm was BUILT for those two things, it's a duplicate of Legends, this place is not so much for character development, as fighting". Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "That's just my perspective". A lot of people have said that your conduct is ruining the realm, you don't think so? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I think it is, yes. That's why I've decided to cut it out. I'm a Ranger again, so I figure it's time to buckle down. That's why I've decided to cut it out again". What are your new plans for Cabe then? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Well, I'm going to try to build the Rangers back up again, so they are feared and respected, I've also stopped stripping completely, GASP GASP, and killing will be quite a deal less sadistic". If you could change one thing about Avalon, what would it be? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "That's easy, I'd make it a free game. No more credits, or subscriptions". Were you around when it was last free? That had caused some problems in itself. Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Yes. I played for about a month and was hooked before it became pay to play". Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "I was also Usuk, as you might remember, for about 2 months. May I tell you my story". Yes I remember. You may.. Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "When I was Usuk, there was a pipe on the ground, just at Path Entrance, lying there, unruned, and with nobody in sight. So what do I do? I decide to grab it. Then Jaspyr comes looking for it, and finds it in my possession, I get the boot from Mercinae, some deity allows 6 people to team strip me, and that was that." Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "After only 2 weeks in the game.. And Nox changed my name to Usuk, as in U-SUCK." She was quite comical like that. Is there anyone in the realm you currently look up to and respect? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Nope. I've respected many people over the years, but they always seem to disappoint me. Mostly the divinities, not so much the players, for when you steal from them, they go off like time bombs". What about the name Cabe, where did that come up from? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "My real name is Caleb, my first girlfriend called me Cabe, back in grade 5-6 or so. Or maybe it was my best friend, I forget". Ain't that cute. Can you tell us a little more about yourself personally? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Well, I play soccer and snowboard a lot. I like to think I'm fairly good at them both. I have really long hair now, I'm growing it out so I can tie it back in a pony-tail when I play soccer so I can go hard-core". What are your future plans for Cabe? Godship? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Heavens no!" A booming voice intones, "They would never let that happen". (Scorpio, chuckle) Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Sitting in Olympus, pestering myself with mortal affairs.. I come here for fun, not for an escape from reality. Gods can't kill and strip when they feel like it, unprovoked. I can. My reality is enjoyable, but so is this game." Anything you would like to add while you have everyone's attention? Advice for the new kids possibly? Bloodthirsty Cabe says, "Stay in school, don't do drugs, and most importantly all, remember to rebel against authority!". Thanks for your time Bloodthirsty Cabe bows respectfully. END INTERVIEW Want to be interviewed? Contact me.
